  1. Cheers folks.

It's not really been used over winter as it's a weekend toy (kept in my garage) hence I've missed the November service, but I'll get it booked in this month then.

Is there a 10.000 service interval on these cars, or would that be a 20.000 one ?

I'll compare a few quotes from local (Porsche) garages but what should I be looking at spending (roughly) for that ?

  2. So I've had my Boxster 2 years now, and on start up it now says: "Service due".

However I remember taking a picture a while back when it says service due in so many miles and/or so many days, and it basically then said (on the dash) it was due at either :

    - November 2022
    - 80.000 miles.

I'm now sitting at 73.600 miles so still a fair bit of the 80.000 miles.

Last big service was at 61.000 in January 2020 and I've had the coolant (and water pump) replaced a year ago at just under 70.000

So just wondering what people tend to go by when they go in for a service, the date or the total mileage ?

    Pic for attention

That would perfect yes, thank you!

I’m just up the 127 in Billericay. Let me know when you could do and we can go from there 👍

Sorry been very busy with a new role at work.

I'm going out for a blast with another Porsche group tomorrow if you're free.  A few of us are meeting at the Shell petrol station in Rayleigh (07:15), then off to Braintree to meet the rest and the route starts from there, towards Thaxstad and Finchingfield. Looks like it'll be a fun little drive.

Nice pics as always , somewhere near South of the End ?

I'm in Southend, start point was in South Woodham ferries, and then we drove though stow mares, cold Norton, Latchingdon and ended up in bradwurst on sea (or something that sounds like that 😁

Not the pads, the inner faces of the discs. They are notorious for being smooth silver on the outside and patchy lumpy on the inside. Quick check with a hand mirror should show it.

Cheers, will give that a try this weekend.

Looks like you have the shims in place so that rules that out. Pads are getting quite worn and have you checked the inside faces of the discs?

To be honest I wouldn't really know what I'm looking for...

Would you say these pads look worn? I thought they look relatively alright but I guess I don't know how thick they were to begin with.

  7. I noticed it after some spirited driving in the Alps last months, but went for a little drive yesterday and after a while there is a little bit of a squeek again coming of my brakes, but only like at the very last bit of braking, just before coming to a halt.

Can hot weather do that, or could it be something else ?  I've had a look at my brake pads and they all seem to look ok

Only seems to happen after a little while of driving. Popped to the shops and petrol station this morning and no squeek at all.

So I’ve got four new PS4s on it, and the tracking done, and taking it down to Switzerland / Italy this summer.

That is litterly what I did, new PS4's, tracking, and then off the Switzerland & Italy. 😄

There's already a link to the photo thread, and feel free to ask any questions.

Interesting - that price for the pump is EXACTLY the porsche price before VAT - to the penny - so either a massive coincidence and its a 3rd party pump that just happens to be that price vat inc or they have missed something in the estimate - as above - suggest confirm what you are getting for your money - because for 32 pounds more ( if you buy it yourself with discount) you can have a genuine one.....

Maybe it's the price they as a garage can get it for ? Though I'll double check with them.

Is that a Porsche original water pump in their quote ? Personally I’d want to ensure it is for that money so you get (hopefully) good longevity for that money.

Yea he said it was original Porsche, and that he was surprised by the price. He said he could look at some cheaper alternatives (non OEM) but he also mentioned they've seem customers with issue's with non OEM pumps.

Check my homework with an OPC but I read it as

    Latest Porsche part number ( there have been many supersessions)  0PB 121 035 A ( original version part number was 9A1 106 048 00 )

Porsche Price including 10% discount for PCGB membership and VAT £433.52

    Design 911 price  £454.36 + VAT + DELIVERY

    Porsche Boxster Cayman 997 Water Pump 9A110604800mp Porsche Boxster 986/ 996 C2/4 (non Turbo) - 0PB121035A | Design 911

Yes - there are cheaper alternatives out there - who know's how good they are or how long they will last, or how well they fit.  Your money, your car, your rules etc, but the bulk of the cost on this job appears to be time - so a false economy if you fit one that lasts a few years.

Cheers Paul, that sounds about right then.

Estate of the bill he printed out looks like this :

    - waterpump £ 401,41
    - Seal £ 10,72
    - Anti-freeze £ 13,95

    - Replace water pump, renew anti-freeze and blood through system, 2x 79,50 = 159,

    Total £ 702,

Think I'm gonna stick with that and just let them sort it. It needs to get done before my trip at the end of the month and rather have this indie do it then somewhere else.

9A1 pump is different, i paid £320ish for a genuine pump in 2020 so sounds about right. Cant comment on labour, as i did mine diy (took me about a week in total😂)

Are there different types of waterpump then ?

I just had a look at that design911 website and they've got a waterpump for £ 133, on there.
