  1. Sorry no pics but the foam drip trays at the rear, under the convertible roof sit under a lip on the bodywork. People clear the drain hole, repair rips in the foam but if the tray edges do not fit under the lip then rain will run between the tray and bodywork. Open the roof in service mode and check the drip tray where it sits behind the door catch.

  2. Hovered out all the various tree debris that got blown in after I left the top down in the car park today! Also failed to find out why the outer hood failed to engage properly(sat outside the plastic window surround) when I closed it. Seems ok now.

  3. l paid about£55 for the Renovo kit. Cleaner, dye, proofer, 2x brushes 1x scrub brush, 2x pots & masking kit. Cleaned thoroughly using the scrubber, dyed (2 coats) then proofed. Great job. That was last July. Had enough dye left to give another coat last week, and plenty of proofer left for the autumn. Would recommend. They do three colours if I remember, red, blue and black.

Sorted out a very very annoying clunk on near side front. Trust me I have eliminated everything ...so I thought after another weekend trying a crow bar in everywhere, changed purchase so I wasn't lifting under the subframe, but pushing down on the subframe and saw movement, bolts were bloo.y Tight I thought , went with a few good turns using a breaker bar......Result all is good now.

So which bolts did you tighten?

  5. Energiser Customs ltd searched on eBay £130 for the pair. Can't detect obvious play when they are out but can detect small play when you split the coffin arm end and pull/ push on the control arm. You wont believe how such little play can magnify into such an annoying knocking! ☺

  6. Swapped out these mingers this morning! All went well but used the blow torch on the alloy wheel carrier to help crack any corrosion, I will need to heli coil one thread as it looks past it and it appears it was a bit of a bodge at some time. I wonder how long they had been on the car?

  7. Rear control arms arrived today, so she is up in the stands again..... see how the discs go then tackle the back end. Hopefully all will be quiet on the suspension from then on! These are TRW parts and it is clear that the Porsche stamp has been ground off.  I hope the joint lasts longer than the original did.

Got the car back from Cotswold Porsche after having a rear wheel bearing done, what started out as a couple of extra jobs turned into 4 new coffin arms, tuning fork  and a four wheel alignment.

the car is so planted now, previously my car must have been so out of align that this feels like a new car :)

That's what I am aiming for!

  9. Well the new front control arms (tune forks) are on and she is back on the road. After a couple of alarming creaks and knocks in the first 400yds everything settled down. ARB bushes, coffin arms and control arms £150 per side total and all seems quiet on the front.... Now it just makes the rear sound even worse! will do the ARB bushes and rear tune forks first as i believe this is where the "snooker ball" noises come from. If its still present then its time to swap the rear coffin arms too.

Productive day spent in the garage today with my trusty specialist...  First time I've had a chance to give it a full going over since I've bought it, so a bit of a "getting to know you" day...

As well as a full check over, here's the list for the day, as well as a few small discoveries/fixes we made during the day....

    - Oil and Filter Change (Shell Helix Ultra 5w40)
    - Gearbox Oil change
    - PAS fluid change
    - Brake and clutch fluid flush and change (Motul RBF600)
    - Full set of coil packs
    - Re-coded the OBC stalk to the dash
    - The Litronic self-leveling connection was re-connected as it wasn't actually attached, so not working!
    - Sagging seat bases were sorted out (the foam had pushed past the metal frame, so it was all pushed back up and supported with the judicious use of some nylon webbing straps.
    - And finally a full set of Brembo discs and pads.  It seems the front pads are actually made by Textar based on the stamps:

The old discs were a bit past their best:

There's something really satisfying about a nice new set of discs....

Even managed to give all the undertrays a clean.  I did have to evict a couple of resident snails in the process!

How were the Caliper bolts? did they come out ok? any strip threads? the inside of my discs look the same.... shot to hell!

  11. Well they are out! Near side ok once I had woken the neighbours up beating my pickle fork!? Driver side... Bitch! Looks like it had been replaced before and unfortunately the bolt that holds it to the sub frame was totally corroded inside the control arm bushing. My son was braver than me (often the way when they are not paying!) and took a disk grinder to the bush and bolt. two cuts either side of the arm and it was out. Just waiting for a new bolt now. I have bitten the bullet and ordered two new tune forks as there was a hint of play in both of these.
