There are so many different takes on this subject, always as many ways as there are to skin a cat, did I mention I hate cats.

I personally don't look at tyres, brake pads & disks, screen washer fluid as maintenance they are more like running cost just like putting petrol in the tank or paying road tax and insurance. You do the miles you pay the reaper.

Suspension, radiators, clutches, starter motors, water pumps, window regulators, exhausts etc. these are items that normally only get changed once or maybe twice in a cars life. If you pick the right car either they will never need done or they have been done already but you don't have to pay.

Now the real expense of a Boxster is driving down to AV8 on Sunday morning, cost to me £50. Then I got home and the daughter wanted to go for a blast round the lanes, another £20. All these drives just for the pure fun of it is what soon adds up. Can I nip out to Aldi to get some milk, why go to the one in Towcester which is 1 mile away when I can go to Aylesbury which is 50 miles away, cost of a pint of milk £20 or so. You will not catch me doing that in our Galaxy.

It's not easy when the only tool you have is a hammer. But oh so cool when you turn the key and see the countdown to your oil level for the first time in over a month. I can't tell you how pleased I was to see that again. The time is good also some times. 

Replaced the bulb in the dashboard that illuminated the clock. 

It was just the housing, I reused the surround light. It was a like for like replacement from Silverstone OPC for a little under £20.

I replaced the cigarette lighter. My Bluetooth adapter now works in Blue.

Absolutely, however I am in Paris this weekend then in Devon the weekend of the 20th July before heading off to Scotland then Turkey for two weeks. Should be back for the 12th August. I think the 15th July is still free.

Waiting to hear from garage but just checked the MOT history checker and it is showing as passed with no advisories, or what ever they are called now.

I gave mine a good clean then drove round my mates to show it off. Didn't stay long when I say what was on his drive. 

PS it's actually his wife's car as he can't drive as you can guess from the number plate.

Mine would not start yet again this morning so had to jump her. Went for drive in torrential rain to recharge battery and raced a black Ferrari. Or at least tried to he probably just consider me one of those anoying buzzing insect you have to swat.

I know it's of no help to you, horse bolted and all that, but if I didn't have a manual release on my old '99 Boxster I think I would be planning to remove my headlights and locate my manual release cable. I might even attach something to it to make it easier to find should I ever end up in your situation in the future. 

Sorry this is of no help to you but maybe a few others who read this thread might just be thinking it will never happen to me so why go to all that bother. 

I am visiting the garage that helped with my door lock on Friday if the mechanic that performed my miracle is there I will ask if he has any advise for you.

Have you tried talking to one of the speciaist Indy's for advice. However when I messed up my door lock trying to fix the window drop microswitch none could offer any help. A local garage had seen this before and hey presto I was back in my car.

I take it there is no way to remove the headlights with out access to frunk now you gave access through the wheel arch.

Would smashing the headlight be a cheaper option.

I opened the garage to have a look at her then removed my golf clubs from the boot. No way was I driving her in that weather. Why I wanted to play golf is a question for my psychiatrist. Shot 35pts so happy but lost all felling in my left had, wet glove.

I really strugged for quite some time to work this one out but finally cracked it. See not as daft as I look.

It makes you wonder why they were disconnected. One could be an accident but two is probably deliberate. Were they flattening the battery. You need to keep an eye on it as a flat battery can be a major issue.
