Hi @Fat Rat,
I have in the last couple of months replaced all the coffin arms, tuning forks, drop links and arb’s.
I was still experiencing a “creaking” noise, so decided to get the top mounts and bearings replaced.
It really is just a work in progress.
Maybe I’ll change the shocks and springs next year, but the shocks seem ok, and the car has only done 57k miles, so hoping not to blow the maintenance budget all at once, if not necessary👍 (famous last words).

Hi,
Opps, the heading should have been “Torque Boxsters” not “Torque Porsche”.
That’ll teach me to try and multitask 😂.

Hi all,
Took my 986 3.2S today to Paul Lewis @TROOPER88, for replacement front top mounts, bearings, bump stops and gaiter.
Excellent service from Paul, and whilst working on the car he carried out a small preventative repair on the PAS pipe👍.
All in all a very happy customer. -
Hi,
@greenman986s is correct, it’s £177 / year and that price is fixed for 3 years, but no doubt some small print is hidden away somewhere in their documents, that allows them to increase it!!!

Hi @Pordave
I have just renewed my Boxster 986 3.2S insurance, fully comp (Social domestic & pleasure) with Saga, I am 61.
I paid £177 fixed price for three years.

Hi,
After replacing the suspension arms etc, I had a 4 wheel alignment carried at by ATS today.
Well the alignment is better than when it went in👍, but probably a more specialist alignment company would have “fine tuned”it. -
Finished the last corner, so all coffin arms, drop links, tuning forks and rear track control arm tie rods have now been replaced, I purchased all these from Spyderperformance over the last couple of discount offers they had.
I now need to get a 4 wheel alignment, and then enjoy the car.
I am glad I heeded the advice on here to invest in an impact wrench to remove the old fixings. I would have probably given up without one.
Cheers.
Pete

I have been thinking about speaker upgrades and wondered what others had done. I popped one of the speakers out and I have the HAES with tweeter. Which to be fair, are not too bad. What have people fitted, what good options are there and does it make much difference. Saying the originals are 20 years and tech has moved on.
Has anyone used the 3D printed adapters on fleabay?
Yes I have used the 3D adapters from “super-paulie ” and they worked a treat.

Hi,
Not today, but yesterday finished replacing the coffin arm, track rod, tuning fork and drop link on one rear corner (hopefully finish the other corner during the week)
Can anyone recommend 4 wheel alignment ideally near Andover in Hampshire.
Many thanks.

Hi
I replaced the coffin arms, drop links and tuning forks on the front of the car today.
It was the drop link top fixing that hung on for dear life.
Hopefully I will attempt the rear later this week.

Looks like the fastest colour to me 👍.
Not that I’m biased😂😂.
It genuinely looks a fantastic car, and I’m not jealous one bit!!!

Hi @edc
The garage charged me £95 + vat for the lanoguard.
-
Hi @edc
when I collect the car tomorrow, I will let you know the exact amount.
They have just started offering Lanoguard and they gave me an approximate cost when the car was being serviced by them a couple of months ago. -

Not exactly what I’ve done, but she (the car) passed another MOT today with no advisories👍.
She,s spending the night away at the independent, to have the air con union joint repaired, there is a small air con leak by the offside rear wheel.
Also having the underside sprayed with Lanoguard. -
Fitted a Smarttop relay today.
Just need some decent weather now to try it out.

Not what I actually did to my 986, but Autocraft in Kingslere serviced my car, I was pleased to be told that my car is very tidy, and should be a keeper.👍

Nothing too exciting.
Took the car for it’s first drive in a while, and it didn’t disappoint. Then gave the car a quick clean, ready for Beaulieu next Sunday.

Hi,
When I bought my 2004 986S, I had the clutch, flywheel, RMS and IMS bearing replaced, by an Indy. This was over three years ago, and the cost was significantly more expensive than Revolution Porsche that is mentioned earlier in this thread.😢
Below is the bearing that was removed. At the price I paid, I was half expecting to see Rolex stamped on it.

Took the car in for its mot today.
Each year I expect the worse.
When the car was up on the ramp, the mot inspector called me from the viewing area to have a look underneath the car, my heart sank and I was fearing the worst.
Then he told me how clean the car was👍, and thought I should have a look myself.
Anyway the end result a pass with no advisories.
Feels like an early Xmas present.
The longer I keep the car, the more attached I am to it, it just feels like part of the family.
I bet that comment has opened the flood gates for all sorts of feedback😂.

Hi,
Cleaned car, and finished it with “bead maker”, which was easy to apply and the results seem pretty good.
I also fitted Pure Highway 600 that my daughter and son in law got me for Xmas.

Took the car out for a drive today👍, followed by a quick clean and then put car back in the garage.
Torque Porsche - 986 Replacement of top mounts

Unfortunately having changed all the tuning forks, coffin arms drop links (these were all sourced from SpyderPerformance earlier this year), and yesterday the top mounts and top mount bearings were changed (sourced from Autodoc), I still have this annoying creak/clunk sound.
This is only present when reversing on half to full lock on the steering and typically going over a change of camber on the road.
There is no noise under any other driving conditions.
The search continues to try and identify this noise.
This noise seems to be coming from the rear passenger side.
Paul at Torque Boxsters checked all the rear suspension whilst he had the car yesterday, but unfortunately could not pin point what was actually causing it.
I will get the track rod ends replaced (as this apart from the shocks are the only original parts). I will then get the car booked in for a geo at Brookspeed.
Brookspeed might give me a suggestion as to what is generating this noise🤞.
Oh the joys of motoring😂
