Fitted BMC filters to mine a while back.

Unless you car's been driven in a coal mine I do not see those filters at only 6 months/3k old..

    My point exactly!

Calls the last indy service into question in my mind. I mean its the easily visually checked item so why skip changing the filters!!

Looks like an oil change should be on the cards ASAP !

Yes there were some emission variations in 2006, some post March 2006 cars fell into the higher Band L tax bracket.

5 vs 6 speed manual box made a difference.

See the 2006 dates called out in the table here, https://www.parkers.co.uk/porsche/boxster/roadster-2004/car-tax/

The Ad for the 2006 car you're interested in says 229 g/km (lower Band K) so I was wrong in what I said previously.

You can also verify the emissions at https://vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/

    I had a 56 Plate 987.1 2.7 with a 6 speed box, 234 g/km (Band L)

So sorry I confused things, it's just something to be aware of re some 2006 cars.

I thought Band K was up to 225g

Just checked on Vehicle Check app and it says the 06 car is £585 and the 05 is £340

  3. My 981 was also bought from JR Motor Co. this August.

He's a genuinely nice guy, when I went to view a couple or cars / buy mine he didn't add any pressure, in fact he left me and the wife unmolested while I drooled over all the cars and pretended to myself and the wife that I needed to think about it for more than a milli second!

The car was advertised with 20" alloys with good but worn (plenty of life left though) tyres that had been added to it by him, but as its my daily I didn't want them so he swap them out for the originally supplied S 19s with better tyres and knocked off the price he paid for the 20's.

We ended up spending the best part of a day there just chatting all things Porsche, and I drove my new purchase home that afternoon!!

If you've got the money to spend, and are in a position to buy, and he has some that tick your boxes I'd highly recommend you make a trip and have a chat, or give him a call.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy from him again.

As for which model to go for I've no idea, I drove my bosses brand new 986 back in 1997/8 when I was just a wee lad, and wanted one ever since. I recently decided it was my time and was looking for a 987.2 but didn't actually get to drive any. Then my circumstances  changed and I found I could just about stretch to a 981 so did! Mine is well maintained has 67k on the clock and now lives on my driveway! I intend to keep the maintenance up by regular self interim maintenance with all receipts kept, and a stand alone service record, and then scheduled servicing at a local indy stamped in the main book.

I've already started with new brakes all round and have just picked up new air and cabin filters to fit this weekend. But by far my biggest obsession is washing her 😱, she's had a good going over every weekend since I got her. I think the wife is starting to get jealous 🤣

Anyway enough about my new love,  I think everyone will tell you buy the best you can afford, taking into account the higher than average running costs, but I also think any owner will tell you that whatever you buy you won't regret it 😃

Direct Tyre pressure related TPMS became mandatory on all new model cars in November 2012. This was extended to all existing production models in November 2014. I believe the 981 had the full TPMS system as an option late 2013 and was standard from July 2014.

    Thanks 👍

If it does then you could access it via the on board computer. If this is not showing you ain’t got it. My MY 13 2.7 doesn’t have it

Oh OK, was only asking as post above states mandatory on all vehicles from 2012 which is what I'd been told elsewhere.

As mine (and yours apparently) are 2013 then surely it should be fitted? My old 2007 1 series had it fitted, my wife's current 2013 DS3 THP has and even my wife's old 2012 Corsa had it.

Im new to the world of boxster ownership and whilst researching I've seen post on here and other forums about items losing their coding due to odd stuff like battery changes etc so I simply wanted to know if a) it was standard fit on a 2103 base, and b) there was any obvious way to see if the required equipment was there.

Thanks for the link.  Just surprised there are no posts about this as all new cars since 2012 had to have TPMS fitted.  Maybe mine have just failed early?

Hmm doing a little research as I was expecting my 2013MY base to have TPMS, as I was also under the impression all new cars from 2012 had to have it fitted, but the option doesn't appear on the PCM.

Is there any way I can find out if my car came with TPMS from the factory?

Oooooo keep us posted as I'm looking for options myself, but don't want the additional box of the joyeauto.

Great to have someone who's already had the joyeauto so can give a comparison 👍🏻

  8. Is that the one from QCC Wickford? I only live 5 minutes away and looked at it when i test drove a white S there a while ago, just couldnt stretch to it 😢

Although to be honest i couldn't stretch to the S they had at the time either & £40k, Think yours is up on their site already and at the price they have it up for it would have been within my budget if i hadn't bought my base 6 weeks ago.
