Thanks @iborgukunfortunately it’s a 6 speed 3.2 2005

I noticed today that my reversing lights are staying on, so suspecting the reverse light switch is sticking, could someone enlighten me as to the exact location please.
Thanks -
It had been in the garage for some work, the machanic had taken it out but hadn’t replaced it properly, just ledged in. Car was awful to drive.

Have you considered either clutch or brake switches under the dash just above/behind the pedals??
Had problems with revs rising and falling when pulling off resulting in stalling, one of these switches had worked loose. Worth a check.

I got the one off the top to the intake off OK at both ends.
Maybe I'll come back to it when I'm more on the mood, just torn on buying another tool.
I found the hose half way down was easier to get to when the two retaining bolts were removed, allowing a bit more wiggle room. I also managed to release the bottom hose with a good yank, having given it a spray of WD40 first to lubricant.

Added to the tool collection ordering long reach hose clamp ready for the AOS change. Requested price for AOS from OPC.
I think the 986 is a bigger challenge than the 987, but I never used the long reach hose clamps. Tackled the job from the top, removed the two plastic hoses and two torque drive screws, then sprayed wd40 on bottom hose that is impossible to see. Positioned screwdriver on hose then pulled AOS up and out leaving spring clip on. Once AOS is out of the way you can exchange spring clip for a jubilee clip which is a lot easier to tighten up with a 7mm socket and extension.
Good luck and hope this cures your problem.

I’ve just replaced the alternator pulley as it was rumbling when decelerating, it has a one way bearing that only spins when off throttle. Might be worth a check.

I have them but not yet fitted as I need the backing frames. Anyone have a pair lying around they are willing to sell before I have to visit OPC. 🙏

It's fine, had a wiring problem but he sorted it, glad yours is running well now.

The plunger should be pulled fully out before fitting, then when you brake it will automatically reset to correct length.

I can’t see how it could be adjustable, it fits in bayonet style, push in and twist, I can’t be that heavy footed 😂
I removed mine recently, it looked as though you can adjust the plunger by pressing down, or pulling it and you will feel it clicking.

This sounds like Mark from MLR, did the same for me when I suspected ignition switch failure. Top bloke.

Panic over, managed to remove and disconnect wire, looks like I need a new switch.

Whilst checking the fog lights on my car, I asked my son to turn the switch. He pulled and turned the switch, but something went crack and seems to have broken inside and headlights are on. To remove the light switch you need to press and turn clockwise, unfortunately mine will not release now. Any body any ideas how to remove the switch before battery dies. Its a 2005 model.

Not sure, if you normally have to depress clutch before starting, then yes.
-
Check the clutch switch is working, I was advised to stamp on the peddle a few times to free it up. Just a thought.

You have been a busy little bee, stunning. Nice bit of parking by the way.

Back on the road on the 1st and will be on the run on the 5th, will have to put some shakedown runs first and I also need to get the alignment done
Where you going for the alignment, could do with getting mine done, but not sure who I can trust.

The 986 uses a 993 part !
If I remember I 'll take a spare 986 light to the Blackbushe meet and see if it fits a 987.
Here's a picture of my number plate light and one of the camera in situ. The light flicks out so no need to remove screws.
-
Not sure if the 986 has the same number plate light, but the link looks right for 987

Hold on I may be getting confused, I'm at work at the minute, will check later. This may be for another car I fitted with camara.

Can't find any evidence in ebay account as it was 12 months ago but the link above looks about right. Mine is a 987 but if you check the part number on original light, they should match up. The original one had vw on it not porsche.
Reverse switch

That’s very kind thanks, it’s working as it should for the moment but I’ll give it a drink and keep fingers crossed.
