  1. This could literally be the sound from my own car. Annoying, but it's been there throughout my ownership.

I always thought lifters, but I guess could also be chain rattle from worn guides? Someone can correct me if I'm wrong on that.

  2. Pull the lot out and then you can get exactly what you want. Don't know about the 987 but the 986 has dash and rear speakers all with zero deadening, no room for air movement and pointing all ower the place.

Still, you can get decent tunes from it if you get some modern kit, I did and the thought of going back to the OEM shyatee wouldn't even cross my mind now.

  3. They are impact marks from circular foam supports when the roof is down, you can see them when you put the roof in service mode.

Do that, give them a clean. But other than that there is nothing you can do about it I'm afraid. The boxster roof design leaves a lot to be desired...

I used renovo to dye my old roof and Milton and just any car shampoo to scrub it. Fabsil (not the gold as it has no UV protection) can make the water bead off. The new colour won't last though, so it's a yearly chore. I got a new roof eventually as they all just end up looking tired.

  4. The Carhood Warehouse one always looks weird to me, like the window isn't in the right place or something. I assume it's like that to make the access to the engine bay easier.

I went for the BAS hood myself like Clive as it just looks way more natural to my eyes to the detriment of engine access. Was totally worth it, absolute bonus having the rear demister now.

  5. I've compounded my car to about as much as I think I dare over the years, so changed my "old" routine to snow foam and then Adams Wash Pad, my attempt to keep off the paintwork as much as possible.

Check out the wash pad, pretty amazing really.

  6. Meguiars ultimate compound, Autoglym SRP polish, Autoglym UHD Wax.

also got a Halfords claybar, use Bilthamber snow form.

Adams wash pad and Autoglym bodywork shampoo.

that's pretty much everything I have, never let me down yet.

  7. The lights are not sealed units like I mentioned above a year ago, silica gel would do as much good as leaving one outside overnight.

A hairdryer I guess would work for a quick fix, but condensation occurs at the point of cold and hot(moist) air meeting so it will always happen in winter after using the lights (hot in the light, cold outside of it).

Just accept it as a thing, it happens and not a lot can be done about it. Driving the car creates air pressure on the vents in the light and draws the moisture out.

  8. I had a new screen put in when I got the car a few years back. It was in decent condition still when I removed it but the fu-ck on with the chop, no demister and having to treat it like a new born baby was just ridiculous. Getting out the car to chop it was frankly embarrassing for a car of this type as well. Really glad I did it, the wallet is significantly lighter but the car is way better off overall.

A new glass windowed hood is an option, some options are better than others but can look odd parked next to a vinyl  windowed hood and can also compromise access to the engine bay

If anything I find the vinyl window looks weird to me now! Just what you get used to I guess.

  10. It's only plastic at the end of the day, and thus can be sanded and polished back so long as you have the time. I tend to sand by hand and then use the DA to compound it, polish it and then wax it by hand.

It won't last though, as you've taken off the UV protection. So I tend to do the above maybe once a year, doesn't take long.

At some point I'll get them 2k clear coated so it's just done with, but until I can be arsed then the above suits me.

  11. To the best of my knowledge, if you've got the grills in the doors, you've got the speakers. Unless someone took them out...

But yeah, "speakers" is actually "subwoofers", the door subs only get the lows from the amp so you can't just replace them with a normal speaker, you'd have to either bypass the amp or replace it.

  12. Yeah they are mine for sure 👍. I have my powered sub behind the passenger seat in a carpeted housing I made, no way it would go under the seat at all.
