Took out and "serviced" the secondary air pump as it's been squealing on cold starts each morning. Pretty easy to remove, not a lot you can service but it was manky inside and I was able to repack the bearings. Once back together it was whisper quiet 👌

Almost a year to the day when I asked about this, I'm about to have a look at the SAI pump as now it's colder I'm hearing it again. A calendar year almost to the day, weird...
Information is real sketchy on this, but I assume I can open it up and grease the bearing 🤷🏼♂️

I had a new key for £250 from porsche Newcastle.
While I'm here, has anyone tried this:
- valet/second key in the ignition to start the car.
- main key, remote lock the car while it's still running
So essentially you've got a locked car that is running, I'm thinking for deicing purposes etc.
Is that a thing that would work? 🤷🏼♂️

I've had good results using Milton to remove and prevent mold.
Yep, used that. Still came back after a short while.

8 years on and my "knock off" eBay regulator is still fine on my daily.

£160 this year. Admiral was a renewal at £260 so I compared and got £160 with QuoteMeHappy which I think is Aviva. I'm an old man now, just turned 40.

After my experiences with it in now thinking the Fabsil made the mold worse by trapping moisture under it... The mold always came back, even after scrubbing it with every chemical known to kill the stuff.

Cleaned and scrubbed in advance:
Half way through:
Afterwards, pretty happy:
6 months later, back to square one. Did it again at that point, didn't last again so I sacked it off
It was sealed with Fabsil.

I used it. Looked great at first but after 6 months of being outside the colour had completely gone back to "normal". My roof is blue and I used their blue dye. Looked great for a week or so. Just paint it on really, but I wouldn't use it again as it's not something I'd like to do as a 6 month routine, just not worth the hassle.

That would take the "occasional knocking sounds from rear" and the "insufficient lubrication" part of the report to a whole new level.
Can I have that in writing? Or in this case... I guess not.

I think it's a bit much to have to sleep with the guy to obtain a written report. 😱
Depends on the price.

How long could it really take to write up the report from the notes? If it takes longer than an hour I'd be surprised. Seems p*ss poor to me.

Pretty sure he's an admin on the Facebook group... If he says a report will be forthcoming in a few days and a month passes, id be p*ssed off like.
Don't do the job if you're going to take 100% payment and only deliver 50% of the gig, busy or not.
My opinion still stands that a report on a 20 year old £4k motor is pointless. Water pump works perfectly until it doesn't, then what?

Are the trailing arms the forks? When I replaced those on the rear of mine it was like a new car, worked an absolute treat. Bit fiddley at the chassis end but overall pretty easy to switch.

If your fitting yourself, I’m impressed.
Yeah just superglued it in 👌

Talking of windscreens, got a new one today.

I admit I thought the whole thing was dodgy looking, but then on a few Facebook groups I'm in other people had them arrive and looked totally legit, guys who have been in the group years. 🤷🏼♂️

Hope no one followed these links as they go to an unsafe site. Has Porsche had a data breach???
Are we saying this isn't legit Porsche?

Was meant to have a new windscreen fitted, but autoglass turned up without the correct trim. Said he could fit a "universal trim" which I politely declined. Annoyed as I took all the panels, wipers, scuttle etc off in preparation which I then had to put back on... Plus it was cold outside.

I mean these cars are 20 years old, you pretty much need to buy it and replace a lot of stuff to get reliability or at least expect to in the short to medium term. I bought my motor with all that in mind and am still pleasantly surprised 8 years later that I haven't needed to. Biggest expense so far was the clutch/IMS and the new roof, which in fairness I got all that because I wanted it, rather than a necessity.
Not a lot else you can buy for folding money that's been outside for 20 years and still good to go.
In summary, a 20 year car that costs next to nowt doesn't need a paid for inspection, in my opinion.

Anyone got any 12v cool boxes recommendations for the front boot? Just to keep a picnic cool for a few hours and then to hold beers at the hotel, so 12/240 plug option. I'll fit a power/cig socket in the boot for it.
Be nice if it doesnt look like something my Nana used to have in 1984 as well, but looks are secondary to functionality. Much like my Nana.

Hinge & Bracket? 🤷🏼♂️
