When are they taking orders on the electric Boxster?
A while back I looked at swapping the 981 for an Aston* as I couldn't afford to run one as a daily when actually having to drive to work (would have been circa £120 just to go to work in an Aston 4 years ago, assuming there was no spirited driving involved...). Well, now the Boxster will cost about the same! I'll be using my wife's M3 for that and the Boxster is now just for fun.
*Despite the Aston being my dream car and sounding awesome, I didn't swap because the Boxster is just so much fun to drive. Different type of car, I know.

Yeah, I thought about it and thought about it... that or the carnewal.

My 987 had PASM and 19s, my 981 has 20s and no PASM. The odd time I turned the PASM "on" (I know, I know...) I felt like I was losing fillings and never felt the urge to try it for more than a few seconds. Roads around me don't tend to be great, I never took it on a track, and I'm never likely to with the current one either.
PASM would not be on my list of things to look for. If it's there, yeah, fine it can run in soft mode. I'd rather have heated seats and the PSE I think (although never had PSE, so only guessing).

Very occasionally have a connection issue with the Joyeauto box (power off and back on always sorts it) - on the whole I'm very pleased with it. Use it wirelessly with an iPhone though, so I know that might not help you.

I popped into Tesco and filled her up... £91!! 😵
I'm really glad I'm now working from home and that's no longer a weekly experience.

Yeah, they look the business and I'm a fan... and sounds like a good call to get someone else to fit them!

I missed out on a second-hand one on here a while back - also interested to hear what anyone has to say...

My 987 was the first car I had with heated seats, I'll not buy a car without now. First thing on the spec list. Never had a heated wheel, but hear good things about them... getting old I guess.

I use a waterproof half cover that serves its purpose without being expensive
Waterproof Outdoor Half Car Cover - XS (PORSCHE 987 BOXSTER/S)
They do a range for 981 to choose from too:-

40.00
Also have the half cover from Classic Editions... Can be a bit of a faff when it's windy and raining, but it generally does the job.

I am regretting the Textar pads, they are squealing at low speeds so far (Yes I've tried bedding them in repeatedly).
Yeah, I got this too - repeatedly trying the hard braking routine did nothing and I just had to wait for them bed in over time, which seemed like months due to the limited amount of driving I was doing...

My box is a
daily driveronce a week driver (but that's all I ever go out now). Previous one was used in all weathers, the only time it was even slightly problematic was on some mornings when it took ages to clear the condensation... Or if I wanted to take something big to the tip.Get a set of winters on it and they're more than capable.

Last year I paid £690+VAT fitted at an Indy (Unique in Bolton - friendly and don't try to do unnecessary work) - Sebro discs and Textar pads - they state they only use Porsche parts...

5000 miles in an 8 year old and no reliability problems. I do notice it drops revs in the standard mode every now and then, almost like it wants to go faster and stutters. Absolutely fine in sports mode.

Not voted, but a small handful of occasional niggles - squeaky steering for the first few months of ownership, an occasional ABS warning (possibly due to the bush on the brake pedal) and a temperamental heater (known to occasionally blow only cold during winter until the car is turned off and back on again). None of these have been repaired and only the heater might be an issue if I was to use it every day (working from home at the mo). I've also had a small handful of normal maintenance expenses - major service type and all that. Throw in an apple play radio widget and 9 new tyres (full set of summers, a blow out on a summer and a set of winters and wheels from eBay) and I've probably spent about £3500 or so since I bought it in February 20 - I've only done about 5000 miles though, even though it is my "daily". I spent quite a bit more on the 987 I had before it, including replacing all the cooling pipework, condensers, coils, etc.

Managed to destroy a tyre whilst out and about... the car has been recovered to the nearest ATS now and a new shoe on order...

I bought my 981 about 16 months ago for a good chunk less than it would be going for now, and about £2k less than the current WBAC offer. Never experienced this before.

rear wheels are fitted to the front!
Difficult to tell for sure, but certainly looks like a random set of 235/255/265 rubber, with a 235 on NSR...

Got the Joyeauto box into mine last week, and whilst I've not used the car extensively since (still stuck at home all day), the times I have used it the CarPlay worked a treat - maps, music, texting etc. I would like to find the option to put the menu down the right hand of the screen, not the left, but that's a minor problem. Need to have a sit in there and play, but its actually been cold up here!

so much better than those daft rag tops with their silly folding roof mechanisms
🙄 - folding roof envy...
The car looks nice but I'm afraid I'm a typical sun-starved northerner who needs to be able to take the lid off every time the sun comes out. So twice a year then.

Only had a go in a 2.0 718 (both Boxster and Cayman) when looking to move on from a 2.7 987, pretty much agree with everything you've said though - I found it good to drive but a little agricultural sounding. Better experience in the 718 PDK than the manual, but I think that was just down to that particular manual and the 987 I'd got used to driving (that had a super heavy clutch so I kept on stalling!!). I'm happy with my 981, and have opted to stay with it after trying an Aston. The Aston did sound better though.

Fair enough, the pcm bit is fairly straightforward once it's out. It's the cable running that is the pain, quite literally!
It does look fairly straightforward to be fair...

Interested in who refubed your tyres
Ah, it was the alloys that got refurbed... the tyres are back on because the alloys are refurbed that they're on 🤪
What have you done to your 981 today?

If you let the tank run a little lower, there's less weight to move...
Personally, any weight savings are a moot point because I add the driver 🤪
