Well I won’t be posting for a bit , as now My 991 is finally a 981 !!!
Weirdest looking 991 i ever seen @bally4563 but a good looking 981

Having driven @bally4563 987 s defo throttle is more responsive than my 2.7 987 and it was great fun to drive I am contemplating a speed booster for mine suppose biggest thing stopping me at present is low funds and tyres are more pressing 😆

Would like to say a big thank you to Mick @bally4563 for fitting my new HD waterproof and underpulley kit today and for helping to try and pinpoint my ongoing pasm issues

The acceleration sensor is situated at the front of the gear box console jut remove the front bit of carpet trim and take two screws out and pull the leather console forward and out of the way. Right at the front behind the radio etc you will see it laying flat with a plug going into it
Are they common to fail @bally4563?

So got pasm failure on my dash this morning
Suspension has gone stiff and when I plug my code reader in I get fa body accerlation sensor error
At mot a month ago ns front shock was listed as light misting and put down as advisory and car has been fine until this morning
Obviously code reader is pointing to a sensor but would it more likely be a failed shock given it had light misting ns front shock does appear to be more bouncy than os shock
Anyone else encountered same issue?

So I will give myself a mupperty award
Disassembled again today worked out diffuser was in wrong place so the zebra strip wasn't making contact fitted on correct place progress lcd but buttons didn't work
Removed again and left diffuser out some of the buttons appeared to work but temp and fan buttons didn't work but heated front screen would put blowers on full ns heated seat button didn't work or eco button.
Removed again reseated board no change getting frustrated now 😂
Removed yet again and this time removed the gasket and looked at new switches I had installed I noticed that on the temp button the top peg i had fitted upside down and was sitting proud and did not rock like the fan switch did so removed temp switch and refitted pegs right way round
Then put unit back together hey presto lcd now works and all buttons now work
But I my panic ordered a new lcd so that's a bit of money I didn't need to spend lol
Oh well I got a spare 😂

So took it apart and refitted all switches now working but still no lcd checked and double checked can't get it to work
Spyder did ring me back and we're very helpful and they agree would take a lot to damage lcd but I still think I have somehow
-
So when I got my 987 it had the usual worm out climate control switches I ordered a, set off Spyder performance and fitted them last night
I followed a vid and took my time plugged back in and now get no lcd display back-light comes on but no symbols
Some of the buttons work and some don't do I assume its just the lcd that's broke or the circuit board as well?
Or am I missing something else that may be another fix?

Interesting remember seeing a YouTubee vid a few months ago 2australians with a 987 and a dyno using a standard airbox with a panel filter got 2bhp over stock filter but when they swapped to larger throttle body and forced air induction kit lost about 4bhp so think the airbox cobfig from porsche is good think I just want a little bit more induction noise which you should get with a panel filter over a paper one

They are, I’ve currently got k&n in my 981 for that reason 😂
I think you could use k&n if they are cheaper, mine looked very similar to the bmc
I was thinking pipercross

I went with the BMC in both of my 987s👍
I had bmc in my 986 but they are pretty expensive

OK so not really looking to mod my 987 2.7 much maybee an exhaust down the road but would you fit a performance panel airfilter just to help it breathe slightly better and if so what one would you go for?

What have i learnt about my 987
in 987
Posted
Firstly big thanks to both @Cocky luke and @bally4563 mick for the sterling work they have both done on my 987 over the last few weeks they were 2 totally different jobs that became real pigs to do for different reasons but it has made my car more reliable and hopefully a bit nearer to getting it through its mot in next couple of weeks.
But i have also seen work that has been carried out by people before my ownership and it isnt always very well done for instance if you look at the service history there was some clutch work done at approx 80,000 miles so i assumed it had a clutch in reality on closer inspection of the work it was a seal/ring replaced when the clutch failed last september at 119,000 then i got a new clutch flywheel rms and gearbox oil replaced by the garage who did the work and i try to buy as close to oe spec as i can afford so i dont buy the cheapest available.
Now as my second mot approaches since owning the car i realise that ns headlight was replaced at some point last year it went down as advisory as the garage was unable to adust the beam pattern this has got worse and i doubt it will get through mot this time so yesterday i took out the headlight and if u flip off the endcap you can manually adjust the lenses but i can either get it too low or too high compared to the os headlight so i have had to bite the bullet and find a replacement from a breaker. On closer inspection this headlight has been replaced at some point in the past with a cheap aftermarket unit the build quality is nowhere near the same as the os one so i guess at some point the car has had some light front end damage i think this is backed up by the fact the os headlight dosent lock into the locking plate properly and i think the locking plate may be bent but that's something for a future time to reslove.
I could find other things that have been poorly done over its life but i think what i have learned that 2 years after buying my 987 I am now begining to understand where its needs attention and where it doesnt i also now get why mick has created a thread on his new to him 981 and why he has been so through going through it and i know many of u do the same and now it makes total sense to me.
So hopefully replacement headlight will solve the adjustment issue then it will be oil and filter and new handbrake shoes at the same time as mot and then i cant look forward to bringing the car onto to the next stage of my maintenance plan
