Message me your email address and I can email them to you

Well gentlemen, it turns out it is the ignition switch but whether it's the lower easy one of the actual barrel I don't know yet! The excuse for a dealer who I bought it from blamed me for breaking it, unbelievable! If it is the barrel I know about the paper clip trick on how to get it out, but does anyone know how far in the paper clip goes?

I changed mine a couple of months ago, you put the paper clip in , then put your key in and turn it,that then aligns a further hole further down the barrel, which the paper clip then has to go into as well , once the clip has gone into the 2nd hole it pushes a pin in which allows the barrel to drop out

I mean these cars are 20 years old, you pretty much need to buy it and replace a lot of stuff to get reliability or at least expect to in the short to medium term. I bought my motor with all that in mind and am still pleasantly surprised 8 years later that I haven't needed to. Biggest expense so far was the clutch/IMS and the new roof, which in fairness I got all that because I wanted it, rather than a necessity.

Not a lot else you can buy for folding money that's been outside for 20 years and still good to go.

In summary, a 20 year car that costs next to nowt doesn't need a paid for inspection, in my opinion.

Exactly , also an inspection is there to find faults , no matter how trivial but most faults are also likely to be expected on a 20 year car

If a car is given a clean bill of health but then faults are found a month later is the inspector in any way liable ?

Personally I would never pay for an inspection , and if I was selling a car and the buyer had an inspection and something was found and they started trying to use it as leverage i'd politely ask them to look elsewhere as the car has been priced according to the condition

  4. It must be costing TFL millions informing people they are not compliant .... They wrote to my wife to say her van isn't compliant but she doesn't appear on any TFL Databases as....................

1 She doesn't live in London

2 she has never paid Any congestion charge in London as she have never driven though London

3 The vehicle has never been in London.

Kettering to Warrington is a 2½ hour haul so alas your recommendation isn't an option.  I have through  t'internet found a place in Coventry only 45mins away and a mobile service out of Milton Keynes who will replace just the PVC screen.  A big part of me want to stick with the original shape for the age of the car at least.  It is likely to come down to budget at the end of the day though.

Hoodtec only work on a mobile basis.... They come to you

Took it for a trip over to my parents today.  Stopped part way to put the hood down. Partly opened it ready to do the Boxster chop and found a split in the bottom left corner of the plastic window.... ☹️😠🤬  Frustrating as I've been really careful to do the chop and also not open it when cold in the two years I've had it.

The question now is - get current hood repaired with new plastic window, fit complete original hood from salvage (but still risks window splitting again), get salvage post facelift complete hood and frame or get new pre-facelift shape hood with glass window from the Forum sponsors?

Go for the later glass screen , I got mine changed and it makes the car look a lot more modern , also saves having to get out and do the chop each time. I didnt use the forum sponsors though, I used hoodtech.co.uk , they only work on a mobile basis, yes more expensive than the sponsor, but for me the extra was worth paying instead of having a 5 hours round trip and 5 hours sitting waiting for the roof to be done as well

  8. Personally don't see the use of an inspection , What one person says is an issue may not be an issue with the next person , A bit like an mot , one tester might advise, yet the next might pass or fail , its all down to an individuals perspective

What happens when an inspection is done and it comes back good but  then a fault occurs 6 months later , plenty of faults can occur overnight.

Got to remember these cars can be over twenty years old and cost between 3 & 10k , your not buying an investment

Just view anything your willing to travel to and use your own judgement

Great minds think alike, this was going to be my solution too! Spare Switch blanks are cheap too if a mistake is made.

13mm wood drill bit in the centre of the switch ( I had a spare and ruined it, by trying to put too far to one side !!)

Intriguing.  Mine is also a 3.2 S 2000 MY (built Feb 2000) and it has the holes to which I fit cup holders....

Talk about a minefield.... Each side has 34 different part numbers !! Mainly down to colour / aluminum inserts / leather covered etc etc ..

Only thing I can see is theres a code saying d >>MJ1999 Has holes and d>>MJ2000 doesnt have them... means absolutley nothing to me

Do they fold down or are they stuck like that after fitted?

Theres a spring loaded clip so you can just remove them and fold them flat , If your thinking if buying some , get them from the dealer, as they are cheaper than off ebay !!

The holes appear to have been deleted when the cupholders were fitted to the centre of the dash with the face lift. I wonder if a PO changed them to get rid of the holes, a change you have now reversed.

The cars never had centre cup holders either.

Previous owner hadn’t removed the outside ones either according to my Porsche log in , they were always without holes on my chassis number.

its a bit overcast today so I may make it a mission to find out why

So they actually made them without the holes!

Yep... strange the did with or without , surely even Porsche wouldn’t have them as an optional extra, as the cars a MY2000 can’t even say its an early one and they changed the spec later

  14. Removed the old air vents , and fitted  some 2nd hand side vents from Douglas Valley -- The type with the locating holes in for cup holders , then fitted new cup holders purchased from the dealer
