I fitted these to my 987.2 and I felt a difference straight away.  More 911 at the front if you know what I mean.  Worth doing for the money (I got mine off eBay used).  Make sure you have the mounting points on the strut tops before buying because I read somewhere that some 987s didn't have them fitted.

That's why I hhmmmphed. My car doesn't have the brackets on the strut towers.

Gearbox oil worth doing you say? What ya filled it with, manual I presume?

I talked about it in the thread about shifters in the 987 section. For me it really made a big difference. With the treacle that Porsche put it there from new it was tough to get it first and second when cold and not much better when it was hot. I considered putting a new shifter in, adjusting the cables, shimming the shifter block etc. Years ago I had an Alfa 75 with a rear transaxle and that was the same. I put the synthetic in that and it was a lot better. Boxster is great now - as soon as I pulled away I could feel the difference. I used Millers. Why Porsche don't put it in from new I have no idea. Cheapskates.

  3. Took it for a full hunter. I was pretty sure there wasn't much wrong with it - ran straight - but the toe was out front and back on the passenger side and the rear passenger side camber was out. Anyway got it all ok. Steering feels a bit less numb at dead centre. Came back the twisty, bumpy, slippery way and I gave it some wellington. It seemed to hoover up the bumps better and I was perfectly confident as it was sliding on the exits. At one point I had all 4 wheels sliding together and it felt fine.  Mind you I've never driven it hard on slippery roads before.

With that and the synthetic gearbox oil change which is also a good fix I'm happy with it. Except it's now dirty. Tsk....

I’d like to think I started the pears soap thing here.  It’s just the absolute best thing for the job !

Then I thank you. Top tip+++. I did mine with one of those little sponge things for washing up. Came out better than I ever thought possible.

  5. When I was younger for along time I believed that if I didn't own a Ferarri at some point my life would be somehow incomplete. If it came to choosing a 355 or that Spyder it would take about a millisecond to choose the Porsche.

GT silver too. Droooooool. Also I love contrast stitching. Having that on mine......😉

  6. Did the pears soap thing on the steering wheel. Came up so well that I did the seat too. Came so well I did the seats and steering wheel in the citroen. Smells nice too which is nice as the citroen usually smells of damp dog. When I think of all the money I've spent on leather cleaners over the years I'm slightly miffed that a 55p bar of soap does a much better job.

Went for a lovely blast - for my sanity and to keep strong my promise of using the car every week.

As said numerous times - the day I decide to park the car up for winter is the day it'll be sold.

It is very difficult to get back from a blast without a big silly grin on your face. Went out today 'just to blow a few cobwebs' off the car. Suddenly realised I was quite a long way from home. Started trying to think of an excuse in case I got pulled over by de five-oh.

  8. Actually did something. Chucked the plastic baffle in my inlet, refitted the covers with some mesh to keep small animals out and chucked the mucky old airfilter and replaced it with a foam one. Think I might take up a new career as a contortionist. Actually it wasn't too bad. If I'd been doing the same job in an Italian car I reckon I'd still be cussing at it next Tuesday. Being German it all went back together exactly like it came apart. Hoping for a bit more growly intake noise.

  9. Prised the shift gaiter off - Jesus now I know why the trim doesn't rattle - to have a shuftie at where the play is in my shifter. The answer is there's no one place in particular that I can see - little bit here little bit there. I guess I could get it better by adjusting the cables but it's such a faff to get at I think I'll just leave it and put the synthetic in the box when I finally get round to getting it serviced.

    I'm such a quitter....

fair play chap - although I have to admit I'm a (shandy drinking) southerner too - and not only that a tier 4 southerner...

    the joys of covid...

Oh sorry - when you said the dales I didn't even bother to look at your sig.  To me the dales means covered in mud, soaking wet and hanging onto my mountain bike for dear life. Somehow I find that fun but cars and bikes - no.
