MOT at OPC?
in 981
1 hour ago, GTSMarky said:Make sure you get the MOT paperwork to show any advisories. Silverstone OPC farmed out the first MOT for my car and said it was fine. Load of tosh as actually the advisory notice was damaged tyres which they conveniently didn't think I needed to know. I only found this our retrospectively when i insisted on having the paperwork a while later. Needless to say I made damn sure they funded the rubber!
I had just bought it and this was a few years ago, but that set the lack of trust theme up for me which for sure with them is the right opinion to have given their behaviour thereafter..
That was very naughty and something you might expect from a back street garage, not Silverstone OPC!

Decisions made:
MOT = OPC
Warranty = Slush fund route
PSE = I'm having it

Thanks for the answers, I did think the MOT might not be carried out on site. I suppose it still makes sense to have it done at an OPC in case they find anything covered by the warranty, which expires in July.
My nearest OPC is Leeds, which is part of the JCT600 group, although I can use Sheffield, when I visit mum, so I'll check who does MOT in house.
@MenoporscheNo I don't think I will renew the warranty, unless they are still doing it without the 111 point check, then I may be swayed.
Still mulling over the £2325 +VAT for some aural pleasure!

Does anyone use the OPC for MOT tests?
My warranty runs out in June, so thought it may be worthwhile, if they pick anything up on the MOT.
Could also have the PSE fitted at the same time, depending on cost.

You can check for the mileage discrepancies (If there are any) on it's MOT history when it first arrived in the UK and up to present.
Looks a nice car in the pic, but proceed with caution and it needs to be cheaper.

Grey import - a person that has imported one or two cars
Parallel import - when a manufacturer brings cars over 'officially'
What are grey imports?
Grey imports are built in non-EU countries, meaning they don’t necessarily have to conform to European build standards and regulations. This can be appealing because it often allows given models to have higher power and performance figures. When buying a grey import, it’s advisable to use a reputable dealer who’s a member of the British Motor Trade Association.
What are parallel imports?
Parallel imports are cars that are built and bought within the EU and brought over to the UK. This means they will conform to the same EU regulations and standards that apply to cars sold in the UK.
It was 25 years ago for me, but I do remember the certificate of conformity was very important for uk registration.

I think the least of your worries is it's import status!
It would have to be very cheap for me to even get near it with a barge pole.
As an aside, Iv'e imported a few cars over the years (parallel) and found no difference in insurance costs or resale value.

I like it, the gear lever is an improvement too. I saw one in agate with beige at a Newby Hall show a few years ago and it looked great.

So if I understand! It was all black and you have changed it to beige, except for the steering wheel?
In all seriousness, I like the beige with the black wheel. What colour is the exterior?

I have a much better price from RPM Specialist cars at Knaresborough, so likely go with them.
