    I want my free stuff!

I have had the N/S vent out to desnorkle. It's not so easy and I snapped a tab ☹. I was hoping for easier access. Is it not accessible even if the wheel arch liner is removed?

I snapped a tab off mine too when i was doing the desnorkel mod. For what it's worth once its snapped you should be able to take it off easier now. Mine is hanging out at the bottom by about a cm and its making my OCD go wild every time i look at it. Shame the replacement part costs is silly high.

I have an iCarsoft V1.0POR which is about £95.  It reads the Porsche specific modules for ABS, AC etc and give live data as well as the regular OBD engine/emissions information and service reset on later models.  If you want more functions there is a V2.0 of this or the Foxwell NT530 around £140-170 range.  Any of the cheaper OBD scanners will most likely only read engine/emissions related data, or you can go higher up into the market with Durametric.

Im presuming you got this kit...

If so i will be getting one myself. :)

I have 2001 Boxster and the window height can be adjusted from underneath the door without taking the door apart. Just open the rubber plug and the adjusting nut will be accessible with few inch extension on the socket.

Is the window adjusting from door bottom access different / eliminated from 2003 model?

You're right it can be and if my inner adjustment piece allowed me to do so it would have been a 5 min job but mine was not working.

To be honest it needed coming off as the door lining was hanging off and had to be stuck back on. 👍🏽

    Yes its free.

Yes the pack takes about 6 weeks.

Yes the plate holders are free issue from the OPC you register with. (I got new plate at the same time as my old ones were shabby and wouldn't ahve fitted in anyway so plates and holders fitted at the same time.)

Now ive seen the plate surrounds im not sure i like em. lol

Hoping to have my new plates made next week and i think the no surround might look cleaner on my car.

i was actually kind to the dad and said im not calling his son a liar and that hes just sharing the info he believes to be true. Either way i dont think im a good fit for that page as i call BS when i see it.

As i get older i suffer fools less. 😐

you got booted for that exhaust thing as well? makes no sense, i was commenting on that one as well as the guy was an obvious loonatic. Youve had a double whammy there mate.

ohh yeah big time... so you was in that thread? Good to see its not just in my head thinking wtf is going on here? Im tempted to use the race card myself just for shyates and giggles. (j/k)

Yeah that douche needed telling. I actually private messaged Nick Jiles who said he could see where i was coming from and this time he said he has spoken to the other Mod and he didnt boot me either so much be the guy who runs the group above them.

Someone deffo doesnt like my contribution there.

I can't see anywhere on the site about cost - is it free? And do you have to physically go in to the dealership to sign up?

I rang my OPC in Leeds and gave them my details over the phone and then email confirmation to him.

  9. Not sure if this is accurate but...

    "Hi,

The language is specific to the Cluster and there are several Clusters for various Markets throughout the World. My information states that there are different versions of the Clusters for Canada, Great Britain, Japan, Saudi Arabia and the USA. You can switch the values from MPH to KPH and Metric, but I believe you need to swap the Cluster, the language cannot be simply downloaded. You will want a Dealer to confirm this. Hope this helps...

    Happy Motoring!... Jim'99"

Would it make it to a rolling road to corroborate the 300bhp or was it just easier to type as it’s a round number!

you're missing the bit 'at the wheels'...

You've been seen right off there Fizz, can't even have a daft laugh these days... The whole thread has gone now and the kid has been removed as well, probably because as well as talking b*ll*cks he was crazy rude for some reason.

Yeah he was effing and blinding at people all the way through.

I didnt insult anyone, yet got kicked...

The last time i was called a cheapskate for doing the desnorkel mod by some tw*t who then boasted about how he spent 10k on an exhaust. I give him a bit of shyate in return and yet somehow i was banned and he remained.

Thank god for this forum... *note to mods, I'll behave i promise... not to make ANY jokes whatsoever 😱 😛

  12. So I've been kicked from the group for a second time and this time banned so can't even see the group anymore when searching. 🤔

I made a joke saying there's less chance of that car being real than there is of the EDL accepting me as English.

And I got kicked for that as the numpty turned round and asked me if I'm being racist? What? 😐

  13. This thread has been quite interesting to read though and right at the start the OP indicated this will be a bit of a minefield and he was right. 😁

There are so many variables that come into what makes a good tyre choice.

The car in question the tyres are going on, what's the best psi for them, the size of the rims, the age of the tyre, the main type of use the tyre will have, the suspension condition, the driver's ability and experience with different tyres to note a few.

I've got relatively new Davanti all round on my 17" rims on my 986S and someone on here told me a friend of theirs hated them on the Scirocco and that they are ditch finders. That's what he experienced and that's valid.

Different tyres work better/worse on different cars, for instance my E60 530D has bridgestone all round yet some of the owners here say they aren't the best yet the E60 owners rave about them.

My past history of older cars means I'm used to budget tyres and what they are capable of (davanti I believe are medium range) and the grip levels are fine for what I expected and when I intentionally provoked the rear to step out on a 2nd gear corner the slide was caught and it was progressive and predictable and came back in line smoothly with no fishtail.

Maybe having owned 2 MR2 turbos in the past which are an absolute pain when the back end steps out even when I was running Toyo Proxes (fav In the MR2 community) that I find the 986 s with davantis really good so far.

Premium tyres will no doubt give you better grip but then the flip side means your more likely to lean on them more when you're being enthusiastic behind the wheel as I am.

And yes... I am one of those who bought the 986s because it was cheap but doesn't mean I'm going to skimp on maintenance.

Tyres are down to personal preference and as long as you know the limits of the tyre you're on, you should generally be fine.

    My 2 pence worth anyway.
