Not sure of the difference, the badge I was quoting for is 99755921102
The underlay is the same part number at £3.96 and the nut part numbers are different.
I've never had non-genuine parts from De Roure.
996 559 211 00 is my badge number. Thanks for the info araf.

De Roure which are genuine parts and slightly below OPC. If you speak with your OPC parts dept and mention the prices, they will usually match. I'd give you the part numbers but I only have 987 numbers and I'm not sure if there were any changes.
Thanks araf.

£59 for the badge, £4 for the rubber pad and £3 for a pair of tapping nuts should be the rough price of the parts.
Hi araf, is that opc price??

Plenty on eBay if you don’t want to stump up for a new one
Only concern with 2nd hand ones would be if they were brittle and may break too!!! Will get new one for peace of mind!! Thanks for replies.

Porsche didn’t use anything to hold the badge place like mastic etc. It’s just the two locating pins with the nuts on he reverse along with the rubber backing plate to stop water build up and protect the paintwork
Guess badge broke and a previous owner just used some black mastic stuff to put the badge back on. It was bit sticky on bonnet with the masyic residue when it came off. Will give it another clean before putting on new badge!!

What he said, sounds like you might have an aftermarket badge if it doesn’t have two locating pins on the back
Mine has those, they have just snapped off flush with the badge. You can see the pins from underneath the bonnet!!! Was trying to work out if someone bodged it back on or if it was original mastic or compound.

I replaced a bonnet badge in the past. Plastic/rubber shaped buffer to frame the badge and protect the paintwork, badge sits on top of this with the two bolts going through and fixed from the other side with single use fixings filled with a sealing compound from memory. Cost of the badge was not outrageous - maybe £70 or so from memory.
Thanks. Will call opc in morning and see how much they are now. Perhaps my black mastic stuff was original sealing compound and my badge has broken due to old age!!! Might try and see if i can stick mine back on for day or so with some mastic just till i get new one.

I thought they usually bolt through the bonnet with nuts on the inside? Yours doesn’t sound right. No bolt holes?
Mine has bolt holes and you can see the bolts through from underneath the bonnet. The badge has obviously broken at some point hence somone using mastic to stick the badge back on!! Was looking for a quick fix rather than paying opc for a new one!!! Though not sure how much new one will be.

My bonnet badge has decided to come off, though sort if knew it had been bodged in past as slightly at an angel. After recent hot spell it has now come off. Appears someone has used some sort of black mastic stuff to put it back on. Would using something like tiger seal be o.k. to use?? Or has anybody used something else. Also behind badge is like a plastic thing which is flat one side and slight ridge on other, take it it goes flat side down on bonnet??? Then badge sits on the ridge slightly raised bit??
Thanks
Jason

First, you need to get the clamshell free so that you can raise it. Then, everything will become clear as you'll be able to see what's going on / happened and easily access wherever the problem is.
Thanks crc. This is what i need. Very simple instructions!!!! Everyday a learning day in porsche land!!!

So just to make sure i am in the right track, i need to get new plastic roof ends as mine may have snapped and then need to look for roof motor/drive and either replce gears or the motor????

I had exactly the same problem a while ago ...... roof stuck in the closed position and sun shining brightly.
Various videos on YouTube, but the only way that worked for me was using a mate with articulated arms and quality right angled pick to reach back into the spaces where the clamshell hinges are, locate the spring clips that hold the clamshell arms onto the hinges and pull the damn things off (one on each side)
Once the spring clips are off, the arms just pull off the hinge pins and the clamshell can then just be lifted up.
Once up, convert to manual as it takes very little time to raise or lower the roof, and it always works
If you look for a thread on here I started about a year ago (or was it two?) and there's more detail there.
Will look for thread. Though i like a power roof!!

Look on eBay for Porsche Boxster roof end caps, buy two plastic ones (not metal) for a tenner each. But now you need to locate the gear box for the roof drive.
Thanks menoporsche. Will have look at ebay. If anyone has bought any off ebay and could recommend a link that would be good. As for finding the roof gearbox drive is that under the roof/clamshell??? Also with the roof stuck up how do you get to open clamshell???

Yeah that sounds like the plastic gears/rods have snapped. They're designed to do that like a fuse in the system. Someone will be along to tell you how to fix it soon.
Thanks for the info. Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction!!!!

So just got back in car and tried roof again. Can hear the motor whirring but all it is doing is lifting clamshell on drivers side about 2 inches. Put clamshell back down AND there was a bang like something snapped!!!!! Not sure what i have done!! Help!!! Least roof is shut!!!

Gears slipping in the drive box? Just a guess.
That does not sound cheap and easy fix!! Will pop back outside as long as weather o.k. and uncover car and have a look and listen. Hoping may be a micro switch or relay.
Car running hot?

Was out in car earlier today, 2001 s for approx 40mins. Got back at 12.00 and went to cover car at about 5ish and noticed that drivers side vent was still quite warm. Never noticed before. Does it take 5 hours to cool engine down?? Only drivers side that is warm. Thought would ask in case any thing to look out for?? Temp gauge normal. Car is getting cooler now!! Thanks.
