  1. Took off the side vents to paint black. Currently silver, on a white car. They will look much better. I thought I’d desnorkel also but don’t want to go the whole hog and remove the blanking plate completely, as I don’t have a mesh insert to replace it with. So, I’ve drilled holes in the blanking plate, around the snorkel area and will see if the noise is any different. It might whistle like a squealing pig for all I know!

  2. My Carrera white Boxster has a small area of impact damage on the rear bumper. The paint is cracked and chipping away. An area approx 12cm x 7cm. I’ve had a paint guy look at it and it can’t be repaired so the whole bumper needs painting due to the shape not having any natural swage lines. Cost around £300. Question is. Do I leave it until I can afford to get it painted. Or cover with a sticker? Or attempt to do a DIY fill and paint the area as a temporary fix ?

  3. Replaced the fan and temp switches as the old ones had gone white. Managed to put the plungers in back to front and reassembled fully, but eventually realised and got it right. In the process, decided to remove the radio as its never worked and just hisses white noise. I’m fitting a DD head unit next week. Then, by pure fluke, something happened and the radio sprung into life! And I’ve just ordered a DD facia kit and harness for £90! Dang it!!

  4. Ive owned the car 2 weeks now but for the first week, it constantly rained so not much i could do.

    Now the sun is out i have done the following;

Full interior valet including clean, dye, condition the Ocean blue seats.

    Re-waterproofed the roof.

Fixed the roof elastic common problem so side bead sits within the plastic trim.

    Full external wash and polish.

Checked all rear drain holes clear.

Removed Boxster badge and replaced with PORSCHE lettering. Took 5 minutes to remove old badge in the sun.

Removed A'pillar trim to diagnose FM reception problem. Still unsolved!!

DROVE IT LIKE I STOLE IT!!

  5. I have a garage attached to the house. Its not damp, but also its not air conditioned.

My Boxster will be a weekend and fun car and occasional commuter car. So, for periods it will just be sat in the garage, with the UK weather just the other side of the garage door. The garage roof is new and watertight.

So, do i keep the car with the roof up, or roof down?

If its roof up, shall i crack the windows to allow airflow through the cabin?

The car will be a bit of a squeeze in there so i may end up pushing the car in to avoid knocking the wing mirrors and clanging the door against the brick wall if i had to get in/out.

Also, handbrake will probably be off and a wheel chocked.

  6. So, I went to see the car and I got my detective skills completely wrong. It’s a UK car and original. The car with a tan interior was a library pic his wife had posted on Fb before she got the car. Coincidentally my wife really wanted to buy it several years ago when she went to pick up a Z4 she’d bought, and this Boxster was in the corner of the showroom. Anyway, it has been previously written off ( non structural). I’ve seen photos of minor wheel and suspension damage. The history was  lost when the insurance took it, but there is internet history of MOTs from Porsche dealerships in Cambridge all the way through until the present local owners. To cut a long story short, I’ve bought it. I’ve checked everything by going by the buying guides on this forum. It’s got new disks and pads and new Bridgestone Potenzas. Exhaust hangers and bolts have been done. I’ve only had to part with £2200 after selling my classic Beetle, which has doubled in money since I bought it. It’s a weekend car. It will be garaged all the time, and driven enthusiastically at weekends on our beautiful country roads. . Sorry for ignoring advice from everyone who has taken time to respond. I hope to prove it was a good purchase and won’t let me down. Eyes wide open from now on. I lead with my heart and not my head.

  7. Thanks all. It is cheaper than other UK models ive seen.

    Price is £9,500 ish,

2.7 987 white with blue roof and interior

    53k mileage

service History (maybe not Porsche specialist-ive not seen it yet) the seller owns his own performance car sales.

One key, plus 2 small keys

    19" lobster claws, refurbed

New Bridgestone tyres, disks and pads.

Same owner since import 2 years ago ( i think-i'll check when i view the car later today.)

  8. Ive spotted a local Boxster for sale which exactly meets my search criteria. However, its a Jap import.

Its white in colour and has been CAT N in the past. (for a broken wheel?)

I'll be asking lots of questions regarding the mileage, history etc.

The car is being sold by an import dealer but it is his wife's personal car. Ive done some FB stalking covering the past 2 years.

It looks like he imported it.

My biggest concerns are, the original import photos show it having a tan interior, but now it has blue.

Wheels have been changed. (probably since CAT N)

Mileage 2 days ago was stated at 49k, but on the sales ad, its 53k.

The car has done the Scotland NC500 in Aug 2020.
