The "boxer"

We replaced the twin horns with a single (twin tone) horn from Ring Automotive (Halfords) and changed one of the two original connectors into spade terminals to fit the new horn. The bracket was re-modeled to suit the new horn. Didn't take pictures during installation, but this is what it sounds like
Ignore the left hand horn, that was an initial attempt, but it rusted solid and stopped working.

@TGI_J had his cruise control coded at Deutsch Tech in Milton Keynes.

Oof, that is a fair amount, even in monopoly money I've had to butcher the existing horn bracket, but all in all it is a really neat fit, and a lot louder than standard.

Is that the trumpet horns?
Just added an image. It's a Ring Automotive compact horn from Halfords

Not my 987, but @TGI_J's... fixed the (already replaced) horn which randomly stopped working. Nice and loud again!

Is this 3rd party in Europe standard practice for all car policies?
In my experience, yes. But it may be because I am always trying to get the cheapest car insurance, which is probably cheap for a reason.

Compromise and get some black&white photos uploaded? 😇

I used to be with AutoAid for exactly that reason. But I haven't been a member for a few years, so not sure if their policies are still the same in that respect. One benefit they do still have is that they cover the driver (and partner) whatever car they drive or are passenger in.

On bikes, if there isn't one, we can stick them on the corners of the numberplate. Not sure what size you need, but it's an option, just for the MOT. When you get home, you can put the black/silver plate back on and forget the reflectors. If it's any consolation, my Westfield has no reflectors and the MOT tester doesn't care. But if I were to fit some, then I'd go for these type https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/225090939255

Clutch pedal switch. Cheap and simple to replace.

If they are the same as the front pads, then you can get a 'fitting kit' on Eurocarparts for < £20. Still very expensive for two R clips, but at least it will be the right size...
-
Thanks, I've watched the video on the Stomski site and that's a really cool piece of kit. Fully understand the arrangement and we'll be in touch as we are in desperate need to replace the gaskets on my son's car.
-
@TGI_J this is something to keep in mind if we're going to change those exhaust gaskets ourselves instead of spending £800 at the garage.
@bally4563 I don't suppose you've got a few more details about this? Providing you'd be happy to rent it out to us too of course...

As @Quinten said, still no written Report.
Nick was great in giving me a verbal breakdown on the spot to help us make the purchase, however that was on the 29th of July, and it is now the 17th of September, and we still don't have the written report. He makes you sign a fancy looking contract etc so it's not great that he can't deliver the report, and not even give me a response in my DM's, just leaves me on read..
Seeing as the thread got bumped, I can report that we did finally receive a written report, months after the event. No explanation or excuse for the delay though.

The Brembo's have PVT ventilation, which makes them non-handed. See https://www.bremboparts.com/europe/en/catalogue/disc/09-C880-11 and https://www.bremboparts.com/europe/en/support/how-to-choose-the-right-product/brake-discs-with-vane-vs-pillar-ventilation-the-differences-204921
Note, this is not from experience, but from trying to find new brake discs for @TGI_J's 987

This thread is not really the place for it, but continuing on the theme of visiting France, I can really recommend an ATMB toll tag: https://www.atmb.com/en/our-offers/etp-subscription/light-vehicles/liber-t-evasion. You only pay when you use, and with a fee-free card like Starling/Revolut/etc it's as cheap as it can be, without the hassle of stopping at the tolls

Not in this country. I hate plates with anything on except the reg. Don't even use a front one on the Boxster.
But the thread was about European trips, hence the advice.

I've just ordered some of those, no GB though
I hope you know that you're supposed to display UK instead of GB since last September? See https://www.gov.uk/displaying-number-plates/flags-symbols-and-identifiers

It’s left hand fit written Require 987.1 fits right hand side of column
So you'd just drive around with a stalk with upside down writing?
clever inexpensive remote?

May be wrong, but car keys normally have a rolling code element of the signal, which only the receiver and transmitter are able to check/supply. A signal duplicator like the one in your link is not able to do this.
Probably good for garage doors, or electronic security gates though...
