I paid that for mine from a prestige dealer having been looking for nearly a year.

    Same mileage/year/reg '14 model.

Sports steering wheel, extended leather, PDK, PSE, DAB, PASM.

I think (personal preference only) that the lack of paddles, and interior colour, will put some people off at that price and I was specifically looking at grey or blue cars.

Unless prices are rising for 981s I think it might be a bit high, though the extended warranty might help. No offence intended.

Non taken, WBAC and motorway prices have dropped a bit over the last month. Only responded to OPs post with my experience of prices.

I Am considering Motorways offer of nearly 31k hope for 32 and cancel the OPC warranty and get back circa £700 for that. So that is pushing 33k and no aggravation with a private sale. Equally I may keep for another year! Decisions decisions!

It's arrived, picked up The Wasp yesterday and spent the afternoon hooning around. I even got a little wave and flash from a guy in an Audi convertible

It is just fantastic.....It has everything; goes like sh*t off a shovel, acceleration is blistering, comfortable and so planted. I know black and yellow isn't everyone's cuppa, but I think it really works, makes the car feel and look more like a sports car (I used to have the 981 GTS in Agate and that fell more like a GT)....All just head trickery I guess.

I went for the 10mm lowered rather than the standard 20mm as I have a steep driveaway and it even then I still scraped the mud-flaps on the the way out (no problem going up).

Shiny black calipers, front and rear, door handles, yellow dials, seat belts

The only thing I'm not keen on is the dials, I got them in yellow but all the warning lights etc are visible on the dials, it makes it look more 'racy' but it all a bit too busy for me.

I also went for the black headlights to give it the more 'insecty' look and totally forgot that the running lights are on all the time. So when the car's in motion I'm missing a bit of the effect I was going for, hardly a big deal.

I placed my first deposit in June 2021, finalised the spec mid Nov 2021, I managed to place the final order the day before the prices went up, so the dealership honoured the price with no quibbles. I did have to pay an extra £105 as the road tax has gone up in the meantime.

I'll sort out some photos and post them in the next few days

    Lovely spec, I’m envious!

The GTS is just superb in any colour in my opinion but even better in the brighter colours.

    Black wheels are the best!

    Wishing you health to enjoy!

  3. Thanks Jon for the info, I’m looking for a suitably equivalent well thought of company around the East Coast for a quote on a similar job.

How are you finding your new toy, more oomph than you thought? 😂

this link might work for some more photos 🤞

Jon, lovely, like very much the two tone interior!!

regarding the ppf protection, was this offered by the OPC at order time or were you recommended to Miglior Independently? Also may I ask how much you had done and the costs involved. Thanks Martyn

    She’s arrived

    hopefully the link will work

PPF applied by Miglior Automotive and I would highly recommend them

Looks lovely Jon, I’ve currently got an agate grey 981S and have always thought it’s one of the best colours available.

I Ordered my 718 4.0 PDK in June 2021 and originally specced a September 2022 delivery, no sign of an allocation yet, probably the recent events in Ukraine and energy problems have triggered the following note on the Porsche configurator.

(Please be aware we are experiencing extended lead times on new cars, speak to your Porsche Centre for further details.)

All this probably means delivery more like early 2023 and having to pay the £1300 price increase into the bargain, only redeeming thought is that it will be at least a 2023 model. I am hoping that if my OPC takes delivery before the new year, say November or December they can store it until January before registration. Failing that I can perhaps buy it and store it myself until January.

I think they might mean GPF rather than OPF which is:

Gasoline particulate filters (GPF) are used to remove particulate matter from the exhaust gas from a gasoline direct injection (GDI) engine

    Ah, many thanks!

I rear drove a 718 GTS 4.0 and the OPF genuinely robs it of the theatre the 981 GTS has, I cancelled my new car order and bought a 981 GTS, very happy too.

Forgive my ignorance, what’s OPF? Very relevant as I have a 718 4.0 GTS PDK on order so all information is of major interest.

    cheers.

D’oh, hadn’t twigged that he was upgrading from a non-S. That makes a bit more sense…. But 20ks worth is a question only he can answer.

    Same here! Where’s my spec’s?

  9. I agree with above, if you have the budget, I would definitely go for a 718 GTS can’t see the point of going for a 981 GTS as your car is specced up to the hilt. Also, Better the devil you know!

As for value, I’m going to be selling my 981S soon and have been monitoring the market via WBAC and retail value auto trader for some time. The value of mine was 32k on WBAC in January 22 but has dropped over the last 3 weeks to 29,770 (Ukraine)??

Anyway got another quote via WBAC this morning and it’s crept up to 30,330. Mines a late 2013 981S so I reckon you’ll be pretty close to my value as you have a higher spec.

As we go into the better weather expect a increase up to about +3k on WBAC. Dropping again in August/September if it follows from last year. (I Have tracked my car from March 2021 on WBAC).

    Martyn

  10. Update, been on a comparison insurance site to see if it was as difficult to get cover without a operational tracker as said,  plenty of quotes, cheapest quote Aviva at £283 with £750 excess.
Next added tracker and only one is cheaper ‘Flow’ insurance at £277 excess £350, Aviva quote unchanged at £283, obviously Aviva are not concerned about a tracker either way…..so I’m really not sure what all the fuss is about on PH. Could be my age (65) is an issue and the younger drivers have to have a working tracker, which is ridiculous!

Had the Porsche tracker system on both mine, both were in use until no longer required for insurance purposes.

Never had an issue with it, ever! Only alerts I had were when the trackers fob battery expired or if I forgot the fob! They always called and we received text alerts.

the subscription is now circa. £215/year, it reduces slightly if you by a 3 year

I can't comment on the PVTS, but I have a (self monitored) Metatrak non starter https://www.metatrak.co.uk in my campervan and it is very good.

I can track, remotely immobilise my van via phone app, and it interfaces with the van alarm and texts me if the alarm goes off.

It's principal use is it prevents stealing the van following a burglary that results in key theft.

If my van were taken with the key and started, I can remotely track the van and shut down the ignition

    Thanks for info,

Had a quick look and it seems exactly what I’m looking for, I don’t fancy having anything to do with the Porsche/Vodaphone tracker, so will find out if this is metatrak system is acceptable to any insurance company that requires a tracker. M

  13. I have been reading on PH etc that the tracking system fitted on the new (and old) Porsche’s is basically a PITA!

I have personally never had a tracker subscription or one activated so am at a bit of a loss with it all.

Numerous accounts of the expensive Vodaphone backed system going wrong necessitating a total reset at the OPC (an all day job). The Having to remember to carry the tracking card every time you take it out or else a phone call from Vodaphone and/or car immobilised!

To rub salt in the wound, apparently more and more insurance companies insist on trackers on >£75k cars.

Never having owned a car in this price bracket and conscious of my GTS order I’m wondering if anyone else has experience of this ‘problem’.

    Thanks in advance

  14. Graham, sorry to read of your misfortune, my car doesn’t move far from my garage during the colder months, I think I’m going to have to have a scout round for rodent droppings myself.
Personally I agree with rowbos and wouldn’t try to claim on my home insurance, however you could almost certainly mitigate the damage cost by going to an Porsche independent garage for the repair work. If an OPC has quoted £500 to repair I’d bet an Indy could do it for circa £350 or less.

You could spend some of the savings on some good rodent traps lol.

..only if it arrives!  I hope for your sake it does & when you expect it too.  Good luck.

True, and thanks, hopefully before 2023 as well, otherwise last price increase could well be applied. 😒

Delivery lead time for new GTS orders now.....4Q 2023

Wow!! Wished I’d have ordered 2 lol. Monster premium on the new cars….

I agree with you on used cars for sure & yes I could although I've already x2 vehicles in the delayed supply chain right now, so will hold off for a while.

Fair enough, hopefully once Porsche get back to full production, the wait times may plummet and it may then work for you. 😀

Interesting & I do hope you get the 4.0 when you want it.

Not wanting to tempt fate, but I'm waiting for a company car that was supposed to be Dec and now is June (at best).  Also been advised a delay on my new motorcycle too & hence my question on the lead time from Porsche.

I don't have the patience to order and wait I don't think and also don't want a manual, so will sit tight for a while.

The Cayman 4.0 GTS is really the only car I'd get out of my BGTS for.

You gone Boxster or Cayman?  I'm properly jealous!!!

    I’ve gone for another Boxster,

Imho because of delivery shortages with these cars, and the subsequent premium on the few second hand ones (especially in PDK format) the used cars are costing more than the new ones, couldn’t you just order your Cayman, pick a rough build code pay a deposit then forget it?

The last 6 months of waiting has just flown by!

Go on you know you want to……
