    Have you ordered one?

I was on the configurator and my next step was to ask my OPC about lead times for the PDK version.

Hi Mark, yes I ordered and paid a deposit on 4.0 PDK GTS last June 2021. I specified delivery for this September and the dealer said he would manage the order for me to achieve the requested date. Received Porsche experience invitation last August. I have spoken to the dealer several times since last June and he has intimated that delivery dates are slipping but he is still hopeful of securing one for me for September. Although at time of writing I haven’t yet been allocated one.
Porsche price increase from last year doesn’t apply to orders/deposits paid before November 15th 2021 and Porsche are honouring this for all deliveries accomplished in MY22. Unsure if this will be the case if delivery drifts into 2023.
Still not 100% sure of final build yet, am spending quite some time on the configurator!

  2. Chaps, Thanks for all your feedback, the overriding opinion is not to quote a options cost figure on my advert, as I am sensing it could even be off putting for potential buyers, so that’s the way I will go, just a list of options and that’s it. With some pictures of relevant bits of kit on the internal pictures.

By the way prices are starting to go back north again on WBAC obviously because we are moving out of winter towards spring. Next job is to put my private plate back onto retention, probably do that early spring so it’s ready to go! Be sorry to see the back of it, but the 718 4.0 beckons!😀

An observation (and of course just a random forum opinion which by definition is worthless)  but I always feel that when you read an ad with the prices of options listed then it makes me feel like it’s a justification not an advert.

i love to see a list of desirable options and a car well presented but honestly does it matter what it cost 9 years ago

but whatever.  Good luck with the sale.

Thanks, I wasn’t going to itemise obviously, but a rounded amount like a lot of adverts, also as I stated earlier I was and still am interested in what my car cost ‘on the road’ and what it’s worth now from an investment point of view.

However as a private sale I don’t necessarily want to emulate a car dealer so I may well just stick with a list of options.

I’d certainly list the extras but IMHO the value at time of build is irrelevant. I’m not sure buyers are interested in the “when new price” of extras. I know I’m not. Just my thoughts

It’s also for my own interest, probably could have asked the OPC for a copy of the original invoice if I’d have thought at the time.

    • Thanks 1
  5. Preparing to sell my car soonish, I have noticed that many Porsche car adverts have the optional extras valued. I don’t have the original invoice as I’m the second owner, has anyone got a copy of the 2013 options price list and base cost of the 981S?

    Thanks

  6. The more opinions the merrier, definitely helps my thought process. 😀

is there a case for slightly stronger residuals in the GTS interior which would offset the up cost?
I will be selling my 981S in the spring, probably privately, so I could wait and see what I achieve with the sale price as to whether to pay for the GTS interior……

I was under the impression that the GTS moniker carried some kudos and you’d see the benefit in the residual value.

@martyn In your position I’d push the button on a GTS rather than a well specced S.

Sorry map, I should have said, it’s the 718 4.0 GTS I’m buying.

  8. Is the GTS upgrade worth an extra £1312 over the Race Tex with extended leather and extra GTS type upgrades?

    Looking at,

    FBB0-F36-E-25-C9-499-F-9-F11-3-B32-A7-F2
    71753636-B75-C-4307-8-AB9-BC7002-D634-F6

    E19-AA565-B1-F2-4-E53-AC40-4-E71-ABFEAC7

seems I’m paying £1312 for red stitching and some carbon trim! Oh and some red trim round mats!  All very nice but worth the extra?

however, I’m gaining 2 extra red clocks!

  9. I’ve had my order for a 718 4.0 PDK on order since June, for delivery in September 22 which was my choice, however, the dealer did intimate back then that I could have had the car 1st quarter 22, but now I understand that them delivery times have been put back to 2nd quarter now.

Chip shortage still and Covid methinks.

  10. Hiya, congratulations,

when are you picking up your new car? I’ve had my 4.0 GTS on order from June 2021 and I’ve asked for delivery September 2022, I probably could pick it up far sooner but for financial reasons I wanted it in sept.

Would be interested to know roughly what the waiting times are now.

All of this is leading to me going down the ‘self insurance’ route. The first year would cost me £2k ish as would need a service, 111 point inspection and then warranty. Then 650 ish every year after. Also they won’t allow me to have zunsport grilles on the car or any non standard parts.

From doing my research other than the common issues (exhaust valve actuator and engine mounts) they seem very reliable.

From what you said earlier about using Colchester Porsche for servicing and your 111 point check, I can guarantee that you won’t need to remove your grilles before presenting car. I never have and I have had this conversation with them.

  12. No, but as far as I’m aware you will need the 111 point check to purchase the warranty, because they will check that your Indy service used Porsche parts.

The last warranty I bought I never needed a 111 point check done because a). The last service was by Porsche and b). Because the current warranty hadn’t expired, so it was just a continuation.

Assuming there is a compliance with Porsche requirements there is no need to have had a Porsche service prior to buying the warranty.

  13. 2 minutes ago, Stuno1 said:

Ah ok! The only sticking point I may have then is the last service being done by an Indy. I don’t get it personally as if they check the car it should be ok!

Ok. To buy the warranty, you will need a 111 point check, also do you know if the Indy used any non Porsche parts in the service or before the service, ie non Porsche battery etc, because the OPC will need them replaced as well before it passes the check. Then you’re good to go.

For what it’s worth, I bought my car from Colchester OPC just over 5 years ago, always been serviced there and always been under the Porsche extended warranty scheme. Never had any issues whatsoever and never made a claim, just lucky I guess!

Not much really. £740 for a year. I will hear from Porsche Colchester on Monday about of the zunsport grilles invalidate the warranty.

Hi, I’ve got grilles fitted and it’s been thru a minor and major service, plus at least one 111 point pre warranty purchase check, and it’s never been an issue at Colchester OPC. I actually asked the service dept whether I needed to remove them prior to the 111 check 3 years ago and they said leave them be it’s ok.

  15. Nothing to worry about,  the a/f strength should be tested during a service automatically by the technician and if it has dropped below a certain concentration ratio it is topped up to the correct parameters by neat anti freeze.

Down to say -10c requires a ratio of 39% antifreeze to 61% water.

                          -20 is 44% a/f to 56% water.

Not mentioned on service sheet implies the ratio was correct and no further action was required.

For peace of mind you can test it yourself easily enough.

It's a fun car have a fun colour. A black interior will contrast sharply so it may need a lift with some yellow details, seat belts, seat stitching, centre console, not toooo much. Like Meno, I think they generate a positive reaction from people. Some cars are creatures of the corporate car park and are painted accordingly. The Boxster in not one of them, what ever you decide, have fun and enjoy.

Agreed, I’ve just gone from Gentian blue to speed yellow via shark blue on the configurator for my build. Seeing as tho I’m specking the black fabric (alcantara) with extended leather, I’ve starting to think that perhaps gentian and a black interior is too much. Yellow clocks and belts added too, although still a few months to play around with it before final code needed for build start.

    Cheers for that

its just so annoying that when I ordered it I expected the usual 12week build period and not 12 months 😡

Ah, look on the bright side, my dealer hinted there could be an upgraded 4.0 GTS soon 🤞 could well be early new year😀

    When did you order it

had mine on order since February and quoted March next year for delivery

Hi Jon, ordered mine in June but not in a rush so dealer happy to agree on a September 2022 delivery. Got the impression that I could have had it a few months earlier if I’d wanted it.

Yes a friend of mine has recently taken delivery and it’s fabulous, hopefully he’s finally signed up to this forum and can comment

He had to wait a lot longer than planned but it finally arrived earlier this month

Ah, that’s  great he won’t regret joining, and hopefully he’ll give some info on the car!!
