  1. Hi all,

Is there anyone on here who’s taken delivery of the 718 4.0 PDK GTS?

I have one on order for delivery September 2022 and having not seen any for sale or heard of any deliveries, I was wondering if they had arrived in the country yet?

If anyone has got one, would be good to hear your thoughts on the car!

    Thanks!

And pigs will fly in 2025? They’ll get every manufacturer to design and test systems that can be retrofitted? NFL.

I Hope you’re correct,🙏 Though perhaps  by ‘discussing’ read ‘investigations’ into a standardised component which fits all/most models. Though probably would be uneconomical for cheaper cars. So another plus, less cars on the road.

    Calm down dear?

"The requirements allow for several different types of ISA system to be fitted.  By law, every type of system must be overridable, and allow the driver to switch the system off for the duration of the current journey."

You can switch it off when you want to hoon, or leave it on when you don't want to get a fine unexpectedly.

All part of moving towards semi-autonomous driving.

Phew, that’s cheered me up no end! I grew a few extra Grey hairs reading the press last night.

  4. Starting to read in the press about a new European law (which apparently we are adopting) that all new cars supplied after July 2022 must have speed limiting technology fitted….

Apparently these will be monitoring driving, and using GPS and street signage will moderate your speed to the limits specified, only allowing temporary speeding to satisfy safety reasons if for example you need to accelerate to overtake another vehicle in an emergency.

Does anyone have any knowledge of this new technology, and will it be switchable? If this is true I could see an insurance get out, if it was found that prior to an accident your limiter was turned off!      A Can of worms??

I have ordered a new 4.0 718 for delivery September 2022, this has me doubting the wisdom of this order as our cars are bought to be driven progressively when safe to do so, and this could impact resale values…

    Ideas??

    Discuss.

  5. Just gone back onto WBAC and updated my mileage by adding another 100 miles and valuation has gone up again from £36,140 to £36,500 in 6 days. So still increasing!

My previous 718 Boxster had Bose and this one does not.

Can barely tell the difference especially with the roof down.

Thanks Malcolm, that clinches it. I can now afford a ‘special colour’ !

I had SPP in my 987.2 and I thought it sounded more than adequate, I now have Bose in my 981 and I can’t really tell the difference.

Now that’s the answer I was looking for!!!  🙂

Also disappointed with my 987.1 Bose. But I think here it's been said that 981 sound is far better.

Yes, I’m certainly not a music connoisseur by a long chalk, but as I haven’t got PSE on my current car, I might well spend less time listening to PF and more time to the new GTS exhaust music!
One could say, “who needs Bose”……

  9. I am On the configurator and options list is running upwards and away, I have Bose in my current car, but have never heard the sound package plus system, can I save just over £800 and go with the standard music system, I am playing Pink Floyd almost all the time, 🙂 🙂  but confess I am a bit tone deaf!

Would I notice the difference? What would you do?

Paid 33k last march, wbac yesterday 38k. Better than gold, haha!

Don’t forget you’d get at least £41k selling private WBAC will make a good profit on your 38k!

Mine was valued recently at £36k on WBAC.

I paid £39k nearly 5 years ago, and I was told it would fetch circa £40k private!!😀👍

  11. Hiya, I’m on Goodyear Eagles, which are dated week 33 year 17 and done about 8k on them. The expiry date of my current warranty is mid November 2022, so is a fraction over the 5 years ‘limit’.

Assuming I get the replacement 718 4.0 ok,  which was ordered last week or delivery approximately in September 2022, it won’t apply but it may effect me further down the road.

Also wondering why Porsche should find it necessary to have this on the 111 point list, as I said above a tyre failure shouldn’t effect their risk exposure.

If your car is still in warranty and you are going to extend for another 1, 2 or 3 years, then you do not need the 111 point check any more. Might give you some additional time to sort out tyres

Good point, bit of a loophole developed now!
Don’t understand why Porsche should think tyre age is in anyway relevant to a warranty, after all tyres are a wear and tear item and thus outside the scope of the warranty.

This is really a safety issue and should be left to the owner (that’s what MOTs are for)!

My tyres are week 33 year 2017 so it looks as though they could fail in November 2022 if it was presented for the 111 point check. Although hopefully unlikely to affect me directly as I hope to take delivery of new 4.0 718 in September 🙂

On re reading my post I forgot to say new car coming Sept 2022 not this year as it currently reads. So if for whatever reason I don’t get the 718, it looks as though I’ll be buying new tyres for the warranty renewal in November 22. Shame as there would only be about 12,000 miles on them!

Yep my local OPC informed me that Porsche do not warranty cars with tyres over 5 years old 😳 I bought my MY13 981 last year with 16700 miles and the original tyres that were still MOT legal. I changed them anyway due to age.

I had the PZeros changed on my car when it was approaching 4years old and on original tyres, there was cracking in the sidewalls too so wasn’t a bad idea & I learnt then about the 5 year rule!!!
I changed to cup2’s as I’d rather a better grip for my low use than have to change perfectly good tyres at 5 years if you know what I mean!

Wow, So how is this policed, say you present your car with tyres that are 4.5 years old, and bearing in mind that they would therefore be 6.5 years old approx at the end of the 2 year warranty, would they still be rejected? You know what I’m getting at, does the 5 years limit apply at the start or end of the warranty period??

  15. Have I got this wrong, I was on the PGB forum yesterday and I read that if your tyres are 5 years old or older it will fail the 111 point check, although there may well be plenty of tread left and perfectly road legal, but that it’s black and white, over 5 years old, no warranty.
This was the reason the OP gave for Porsche failing to sell him a warranty! Surely if your tyres are 5 years old but in good condition that’s not a reason to decline cover?

My tyres are week 33 year 2017 so it looks as though they could fail in November 2022 if it was presented for the 111 point check. Although hopefully unlikely to affect me directly as I hope to take delivery of new 4.0 718 in September 🙂

Great news Martyn, I'm sure you will love the car!

Thanks John, now I have to be patient for roughly 14 months, still I suppose the anticipation makes it better as well!
Would be good if the suspected facelift materialises and copies the dash and interior of the current 992. I Love the new style PDK gear selector and infotainment screen.

  17. So, deposit paid and OPC consultant Rob is kindly going to manage order for delivery in September 2022. Very professional person to deal with.

Porsche code as follows but nothing is set in stone until start of build….PNJ31RI3.

Still like python green mind, but better half reckons I’m too old! 😳

Sounds like a decent plan and plenty of time to look forward to it, also potentially being one of the last real Boxsters it will be very desirable 👌

When I read the bit about hybrid and electric Boxster I’m sure I was sick and swallowed it again😂, what a bleak looking future…..

Yep, imagine a ‘silent’ Boxster....... This evolution if you can call it that leaves me cold, I might as well buy a silent Ford!

  19. Hi all, so have just come home from a very informative chat with my contact at Colchester OPC, basically there is a shortage of new cars coming through and the demand for Porsche models hasn’t diminished in fact possibly due to C19 the demand has increased. This is almost certainly what’s behind the general uplift in Porsche second hand values.

Regarding the 718 Boxster 4.0 PDK, the wait time is in excess of 12 months. His own personal opinion  is that there will be a facelift model released early/mid 2022, and possibly a hybrid Boxster also in 2022, (see article in Autocar). As I don’t want it till September 2022 that isn’t a problem.

The deposit is fully refundable and I only need to provide him with a configurator code and he is happy to accept my order, so I need to sort out what I want as regards the colours internal trim etc etc.

All being well, I should be formally ordering car later this week or early next. I will post up the finalised build code when established.

    Martyn.

Great, Martyn. let us know how you get on. I did have an order in for a  Boxster 4.0 GTS , with PDK, but cancelled it. I agree with @Menoporsche its likely to be the best Boxster yet!

Will do John, the chap I deal with has Thursdays off, so I’m going to ring  him tomorrow and make an appointment.
