I have front sensors on my Mondeo. Just put a switch on the dash.

Just fitted a set of the sensors as mentioned above. Painting made no difference.

Thanks to Pacemaker1000's guide it was easier than "melting cheese with a blow torch"

Thanks for this excellent guide, I would like to add there are subtle differences between the 986 and 987 but the job is essentially the same.

The main difference is the later Boxster has two more Torx screws in behind the rear light clusters.

So you need to remove both rear lamps - very easy and takes a couple of minutes. See the manual below.

I also managed to remove the bumper without removing the spoiler (I have the Cayman S fitted to mine though) and in the raised position I could access the three top screws along the bumper with an articulated Torx bit on a knuckle and ratchet.

Otherwise the job is the same, even the colour coding on the reversing light is identical on 986 and 987 - Brown is 0v and Blue/Black is 12V.

I bought the same ultrasonic sensors detailed here, from the same eBay source in August 2015 - still selling them for about £15. It's a good quality kit and I concur, the silver is an excellent match for Arctic Silver on the Boxster.

But before I got to this job I found something even better albeit a little more expensive, and this is what I fitted, mthe Parking Dynamics PD1 Rear:

http://www.parkingdynamics.co.uk/

At about £80 its not cheap, but it has better corner coverage and needs NO HOLES - completely invisible!

Installation is a cinch, just clean the inside of the bumper with IPA or alcohol, stick on the silver tape 'aerial' and connect to the box.

The interface box is like a cigarette packet, has a long lead for the tiny self adhesive beeper speaker, and connects juts like this one to the same reverse lamp wire and earth. I fed the wire out of the boot and into the cabin under the rain channels by half opening the roof.

I ran the aerial strip along the inside of the rear bumper right under the number-plate lamps and to within 15cm of the edges near the wheel arch.

Only one wire to push into the boot, not four makes this a breeze to fit.

Adjustable sensitivity in 4 levels by dip-switch on the box. It s a great kit if you don't want to bore holes!
