Le samourai
A question for our resident insurers, why don't one of you Porsche insurance specialists offer a policy that covers ims failure? I'm sure it would be a massive success with 986/996 owners. Ims paranoia is rife amongst owners of these models, so I'm sure take the up would be huge, and the actual instances of ims failure is very small, so it would be a good bet for any insurer willing to take it on. Personally it's not something that worries me as much as some, but I'd certainly be interested in such a policy at the right price. I'd be intrested to hear your views... Menoporsche
Hartech sort of do one IIRC.
Le samourai
I meant a fully comp policy the includes ims cover, rather than, (I'm assuming?) the hartech cover which just covers ims failure.
Menoporsche
But do fully comp policies ever cover mechanical failure?
Le samourai
No, but a policy that does (cover ims failure specifically) would be popular you'd have thought?
Guest twinspark
I've heard of insurance that covers this kind of thing... otherwise known as 'warranty - from the likes of Warrantywise or Warrantydirect.Good luck with any claims, though! srad34
As its a ''known' fault, I would have thought any warranty providers and specialist insurers would have a 'clause' or a suitably hiked premium to cover IMS failure as replacement will in some cases out-value the car itself! ghouluk
worth looking at the small print as well, as most of the warranty companies have a/ warranty claim limit b/hourly rate labour limit.seems to be with most of the warranty companies, you're looking at about a 3* payout max on policies under 500.00.even the "limitless" ones have an upper limit on claim of 75% of the cars value, a list of exclusions as long as your arm, and somewhat restrictive labour rates (60 quid p/h) They also exclude replacement/refitting of non broken parts, and a contribution to betterment.sure there are good ones out there, but i haven't found them let
