Pullingteeth
I drove 1hr 40 mins to see this car... car looked good, it sounded good, ran good until we hit the dual carriageway. I drew the vendors attention to the intermittent flashing warning light , he said it came on now and again, this was followed by an easily discernible juddering. i hope its not terminal, it felt that like it was running on 5 cylinders. What would it be? i felt for him..this was a car that had been for sale for over 2 months, at what I thought was a reasonable price, below 80k miles 54 plate 986. looking for a boxster is fun but can be frustrating
mike597
Without a code reader impossible to say but if it's intermittent it could just be an O2 sensor or a coil pack.
Pullingteeth
Coil packs were recent , I hope it's just a sensor... thanks he's phoning his garage , but it's 45 mins away... would you drive it there?
mike597
If it's a flashing cel not steady then that is potentially more serious. Wasn't clear if it was flashing or intermittent.
Pullingteeth
Yeah, it came on and off , it still drove 5 miles back to his place .

Pullingteeth
Yes.. of course one thing I have learnt is 'there's always another car'
Pullingteeth
Apparently a sticky tappet on #5 triggering a sensor. But although an nice car I'm still looking
Mike G
I wouldn't have felt for the vendor.... he owned up it flashed sometimes when it came on during a test drive, but wouldn't have told you if it hadn't
Pullingteeth
My thoughts were the same after I'd got home . he didn't seem too surprised, and unperturbed to drive it 5 miles back to his house , I reckon it wasn't the first time
