ianbadams
Hey Recently i posted about emission problems and thinking the back box was bust. It has some leaks but not major so for now I think this can remain. However I've been told one of the cats is melted. Completely done. Just wanted some advice from anyone else who's had to replace cats on the Boxster (Mine is 2001 Boxster S 3.2) . Have you bought brand new and if so where from and what sorta cost? I'm from Scotland so ideally UK prices and stock availability. If you've done this with used parts, where is a recommended place for trying? Phoned porsche to see what their parts would cost direct....and it was laughable!! (£6k plus but includes discount on existing parts return) Cheers
myfirstboxster
Can't vouch for the quality http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Catalytic-Converter-PORSCHE-BOXSTER-3-2i-OBD-non-OBD-7-99-10-04-nearside/172995457275?fits=Car+Make%3APorsche|Model%3ABoxster&hash=item28475530fb:g:wT8AAOSwy~BaFyvd
ooid
I bought react catalytic converters on europarts 2 years ago. (986 2.7) Pretty solid pair and passed the MOT twice. The OEM cats from porsche is just a joke, too expensive for a useless pair.
Tex24v
Have had both of my cats replaced on my 2001 S 3.2, Revolution did the work and I believe that they used React branded cats, think they were about £200-250 each, can't remember if that included fitting though, probably not I would guess. Duffy3074
I take it they’ve worked out why the cat melted?
