As title, looking to swap out the horrible polyester headlining for an alcantara ruby red lining to match my Boxster red leather, has anyone done this and is there a how to topic some where, I can’t find anything.

Thanks guys.

It may also be worth contacting one of more of the hood specialists for their opinion. My concern would be the effect of constant folding and unfolding on the alcantara, and that the increased thickness of the material may cause the folded roof to be bulkier than it should be.

On the other hand, if it works it would be lovely, so please report back :)

It’s more about dismantling the hardtop interior before hand and taking just the lining to a upholstery company.

i don’t really want an untrained hand pulling bits of brittle plastic off and causing damage that might not be able to fix.

It would be interesting to know the best way to remove the trims from the inside of the hardtop without damaging them.

My top has been stored standing on the rear window, before I purchased it, and it looks like all kinds of dirt and grit has found it's way into the trim at the bottom of the window.

This bottom trim squeaks something rotten and I'd like to remove it and clean it up before fitting the top this winter

Finally got round to ripping the hardtop apart, its all just clipped together, you need to be a bit brave, use a hair dryer to get the plastic panels off, then you can get to the headlining, again just use common sense no tools required, apart from the tool doing the job, i thought i would get that in first before someone else did.

The idea is to change the headlining out to some ruby alacantara to match interior with some nice stitching.

While ive got it apart i will put a lining between the plastic trim and hardtop to hopefully stop the squeaking.
