Dicky-Art
I've noticed a split ferrule on a flexi hose under the nearside rear. Just below the control arm front mount. What are they? Oil? Coolant? Managed to get a photo by trial and error after I'd put plastics back on! Doh!
topradio
Power steering hydraulic hoses. Its quite common for the ferrules to split and many on here put a jubilee clip around them to stop it getting any worse. Edit to add, this is one of the hoses on the front of my 986 (top right) and I used a stainless clip. It been like that for about 5 years and hasn't got any worse since. Hoses come from the middle of the car are for the steering? Where is the steering pump at the front of the engine high up?

Yes, runs on the serpentine belt and is positioned just behind the passenger headrest
