P0154 & P0050

Hi all,

have a slight rough idle sometimes. Got my hands on an obd reader and it read out the following codes -

P0050 - ho2s heater control circuit - bank 2 sensor 1

P0154 - 02 sensor circuit. No activity detected bank 2 sensor 1.

This leads me to think 02 sensor have gone on drivers side before the cat?

This whole code reading is new to me :)

any thoughts?

Cheers

check that its actually screwed in properly, bank 2 is as said above N/S, so rear NS wheel off, and have a look and see it will be straight ahead ''maybe'' screwed into the top of the exhaust, wouldn't surprise me at all if its only finger tight, spoke to a couple of Porsche guys and they said they do ''work themselves out''

check the long term fuel trim as well, I suspect it will be high , like really high, above 30% ( it should be around 3% )

if it is loose a 22mm spanner will sort it, i would then disconnect the battery for 30 mins, do the throttle re-set procedure and go for a drive.

best of luck.

I wish my dodgy sensor was only finger tight, it was the complete opposite and then some ?

Heat cycles do tend to make them a bear to get out. That is why there is a special wrench. And the caution to let them cool down a bit before touching. The code says some disconnect so something may have hit the wire and loosened it from the sensor. Crimped, not soldered as soldering changes the values it reports and you don't want that.

Thanks for all the responses. You know I just had my manifolds Gaskets change so maybe pulled something off when there were off? Will try to take a look this weekend. Just been out in car to fill up, got a cel!!

plugged scanner in same codes come up. Recon it is something to do with sensor. If the wires have become disconnected is it worth just replacing the sensor?

Cheers

No..

If it's just disconnected then re-connect and drive...

That you've had work done makes me think either something was disturbed / or not reconnected .

Other possible is an exhaust leak.. I would be going back to the garage that fitted those manifolds just to check gaskets are all there etc etc.

All the gaskets are in. Looked at it on the ramp and under the car last to double check. Doesn't sound like there are any leaks as that's why I changed old ones due to blowing like mad.

Will check to see if the Connection is loose. It did have the slight rough idle before I got the manifolds done. But no check engine light.

Oddly enough the battery was flat before I went on holiday about 2 weeks after the repair. Could this be related?

no activity from bank 2 sensor one is quite a clear and specific code.

its either not been re-connected or the wiring to it is damaged, or the lambda itself is borked.

be aware that you may get codes come up after exhaust work because the DME will see the ''sudden'' change in o2 levels, with the old leaky manifold set up you were likely running rich, but because the adaptation had happened over time no codes were thrown due to it being within the range expected for ageing of sensors.

now the leak is plugged the DME will see an instant change and will flag it.

clear codes and it wll go through the adaptation cycle once more.

that still doesn't explain no readings at all from the bank 2 pre cat lambda.

I doubt the flat battery will have anything to do with it, good rule of thumb, whenever something ges wrong on a car start with the last thing you did..

you need to get the wheel off or get under the car and check connection too and then voltage to the lambda, no point in doing anymore until you do.

  • 1 year later...

I’ve messed with my exhaust recently (we’ll I've fitted a Carnewal gt set of mufflers to my new to me 981) and now have a P0050 code. I’ve cleared it a couple of times but it returns. What’s the reset procedure I’m easing about above Nd does it apply to 981 cars? Specialist I use has advised don’t change lambda sensor as it could mask an underlying fault. Hmmmm.
