SteveEu
When I reverse my 2008 987 3.4 on full right lock, there’s a knock coming from the left that I can hear and feel. Ok on left lock and also ok moving forward on either lock of the steering wheel. Any ideas?
Menoporsche
Usually it's on forward full lock, called reverse Ackermann effect, just tyre scrub. You don't think it's that? Mine's on forward anyway.
SteveEu
No reverse only and strong knock. Might be that just sounds quite bad. I’m only doing about 1mph in reverse and it happens but only on the one (right hand lock). Hmmm ?
dim33
I also had a bad knock when reversing. I knew it was the tyre scrub Menoporsche refers to above but it really was quite bad. Both sides did it but one side was worse than the other. After I changed tyres the knocking has completely gone. The tyres I replaced were about 4-5 years old and had about 2mm of tread left. Are your fronts worn?
SteveEu
Well this all seems to add up. The front tyres are old and well worn (although legal) so it looks like that’s worth addressing as the first port of call. Many thanks to both of you ?
