JohnSyn
Mine is intermittent, always comes on after starting car up and hit and miss afterwards. I think mine is the microswitch, which may need cleaning. If yours never comes on it is probably the bulb.

Did you order a replacement or an LED ?

718as
I read that sometimes it needs a PIWIS reset
Greenman
You could be on to something. See this post from 911uk.com. Not directly related to 981 boot in the below case but it sounds like it could be possible. Something to ask about on you first service maybe? Quote Mine didn't work for years and I tried everything to get it going, replaced bulb, tested micro switch, proved wiring etc. In the end I mentioned it to a friend with PIWIS, and he plugged his piwis in and activated it in seconds - has worked ever since. If you've had a flat battery it can knock certain systems out and the car in effect 'forgets' that it has certain options. A 'vehicle handover' in piwis often restores them. I recently lost my headlamp washer jets and heated seats due to a flat battery and this restored them for me. Hope that helps!
