nickt68
Since a major service at a specialist, my 2006 3.4s has had an intermittent ‘stutter’. The first few times it happened I thought it was the traction control kicking in - was on dry road and pretty low speed so thought maybe I’d hit a patch of oil! i took it back to the garage and the owner took it home to test but (typically) it didn’t do it for him. He checked the coil packs and said they were ok. It’s happening a little more frequently now, and seems to be mostly at low speed - coming out of a junction, in traffic accelerating gently. Just wondered if anyone had any ideas - I think it’s the car rather than driver error 😀
nickt68
Forgot to mention, the car’s done 97k miles with (good) full history. I’ve had it for 3.5 years and it’s only done it since the service!
Toeside
Have you cleaned your MAF recently? could be clean or replacement. How good is you butt cheek dyno btw? ....... Sensitive -moderate- constipated?
Toeside
That should be MAF sensor .............. not just MAF 👍🙄
nickt68
Thanks Toeside. Will get this done and see if it helps. With regards to power, it doesn’t seem as quick but just assumed my ‘butt cheek dyno’ was getting used to it 😀!
Arl30
I had similar on my 2.7 litre 2008 had the spark plugs changed which cleared the problem, maybe a quick fix!
nickt68
Thanks Arl30, in actual fact the plugs were changed at the service, after which this intermittent fault started! Initially I thought they hadn’t been put in correctly/were faulty or the coil pack(s) had failed. The garage checked all and reckoned they’re ok. I’ve just dropped it off there this afternoon for further investigation....... ..... to be continued 😀
Paul P
did they check for pending fault codes ? - low speed when you jump on the peddle could be the position sensor - they could try live readings from it and see if they get a consistent response. nickt68
Thanks Paul P, they checked the fault memory last time, not sure if they test drove it connected.
