BTM520
Hi all! Not a massive problem would hope I can get it sorted. The electric mirrors don't work on my 986 on both sides. Checked the fuse and it's fine. Would a new switch sort it does anyone know? I have also read there's sometimes a faulty connection through the door somewhere that can corrode? I might try a new switch for £15 off eBay and take it from there but any other advise before I buy one would be appreciated.
charlieboy2608
How confident are you with 12volt electrics? Everything can be tested.
topradio
The switches are known to be a little dodgy, it's not impossible that they have both failed. Did they both pack up at the same time?

Probably get my head around it, but don't have a volt meter. 22 minutes ago, topradio said: The switches are known to be a little dodgy, it's not impossible that they have both failed. Did they both pack up at the same time? Both sides are currently not working, I've just bought the car on Thursday there and only noticed when I drove up the road. Not a massive thing on my list of things to do but would be nice if they worked at some point!
charlieboy2608
Voltmeters are cheap now from places like toolstation/screwfix and worth having if you tinker with old cars ;-)

I have bought a new switch off eBay for £9 delivered. Will try that
BTM520
I managed to trace this simply to a loose connection from the door loom connection to the mirror loom connector. I read elsewhere some 996's also have had this issue where they just work themselves loose over time!
