chanlon1
First MOT under my ownership passed today. No advisory’s listed at all. More concerned that the engine wouldn’t start at times as I think the alternator/starter is starting to play up.

elgringo
I’ve got one in a few weeks, and out of interest, does anyone know if bump stops are part of an MOT?

Pretty sure not as mine was broken in two and was never picked up.

I don't think they even need to be fitted, though not checked any recent mot changes.
chanlon1
I did swap my HIDs back to the normal bulbs and took the diode out for the fog light hack. Wasnt sure if they would cause an issue. But it didn’t take long to change them.
usman10316
Bump stops don't need to be fitted, so shouldn't fail an MOT base on that - mine are split, but still doing their job - so all is fine. I need to book my MOT soon as well... Pretty confident the Box should pass though.
elgringo
Thanks for that guys, all should be ok then! I can’t believe I’ve had it for nearly a year and 10k miles!

You can get a display that plugs into the cigarette lighter that displays voltage and is a really useful way of monitoring alternator charging and charge state of battery. I think mine cost a couple of quid from China on eBay.

A bit higher if it is still charging. And a DVM has lots of other uses.
