sa utah
Any advice on removing the front coffin arm to subframe bolts as mine is totally stuck. Looking at it I’m concerned that whacking it any more with a big hammer will damage the subframe any clues please ?
AMacdonald
I normally find any difficult bolt can be released (or, very occasionally, cleanly sheared) with a close-fitting socket on a 3 foot breaker bar. It's probably my favourite tool.
sa utah
I’ve got the nut off and the bolt is part way out but just stuck now
NSS
had to use a reciprocal saw on mine
EVO Chris
If its moved, squirt some wd40 around and knock it back in, then repeat until it is fully out. Had this on many motorcycle swinging arms, they come out eventually. I have some spray that dissolved rust in 5 mins but WD40 is the next best thing. Make sure you put the nut back on flush if your taping the thread end to save damaging.
Nobbie
I assume all the weight is off the coffin arm now? Try jacking under the coffin arm as this may release a bit of pressure on the bolt. Don't put all the weight on the coffin arm and make sure the jack is securely seated as you don't want it slipping off as you bang away. Impact wrench on the end is good for removing the white powdery corrosion and getting things moving.
Rooose
Would be really interested to know if you get this out without butchering it. When I did mine, I managed ro move it a little but had to end up using a reciprocating saw. All I can say is best of luck and I hope you do manage to get it out without the need for cutting
sa utah
Gave up. Ordered some new bolts and a load of other bits including dampers and top mounts as I’ve decided to replace more now as I’m in there.
