Jcn27
Hi all Just a quick question, I've had the front subframe down to do the coolant and brake pipes. It's now back up but should there be threadlock on the bolts? I've got the torque specs but there's no mention of threadlock. The bolts do have a blue residue on them in places though? phazed
Interested to hear the response as I will be doing mine soon. When I head the Subframe down on my vRS, The mounting bolts had to be renewed as they were stretch bolts. have a look at your existing boats and see if there is any evidence of thread lock, I doubt it. Codfanglers
The blue will be factory threadlock. The bolts holding the plastic undertray on my Audi even had threadlock on from the factory.
½cwt
No stretch bolts on the 986 or 987 AFAIK. A small dab of Loctite 243 isn't going to hurt, but with the correct torque, and checked again after a few mile, if you want additional certainty, should be sufficient. M14 bolts are 160Nm and M12 bolts are 100Nm. VAG put blue thread lock on pretty much every bolt...
