Today I removed the glue outline to an old tax disc holder that must have been on the screen once, the last owner left it on before I bought the car last Sunday - That sort of thing really bugs me...

Next job is to clear the MOT advisory list!

@MichaelAC introduce yourself properly in the Newbie Lounge! (and be prepared to display photos of the car somewhere - ideally hosted on imgur or similar, there is no space here to upload)

  2. Wow, a relay expert (?). Can I jump in with a question?

On my Boxster, a quick dip of the flasher stalk makes it flash three times - perfect for indicating a gentle turn (clicking the stalk would then mean unclicking after as the turn isn't enough to self-cancel).

On my Toyota family car, a quick dip of the stalk means only one flash, short enough for most other drivers to miss.

Any idea how to introduce the former function to the latter?  I assume it's "buy a different relay", I just wouldn't know where to start...  Advice would be kind!

I've got all the glue off, polished and t cut it but sadly the paint is no more! I always thought it looked like the badge sat lower than on other cars, now I know why. Nothing is ever simple with this car. ?

I've stuck the old one back on with double sided tape as the bloody pins broke off removing that one too! They are very fragile.

@Sazzy I think the 986 and 987 badges are different, I wonder if an inappropriate badge was fitted, either the old or new one and the pins were in different places. A thought.

I was contemplating keeping them for putting winter tyres on but 18s would be more suitable for that I think, so I'm undecided especially as they are unmarked, have good tyres on the front, and almost new on the rear. But then what's the point in having a spare set of wheels sitting in the garage gathering dust (well they won't be as I have protective bags, but you get my drift)

    Face reality and sell them.

Then discount the purchase price of the new ones by the recouped money, and tell us you picked up the Spyder wheels for £1200 the set.

At which point we'll all hate you psychopathically :D

But, the best bit about the whole thing is that I got the girl!

    Aww, sweet :)

So you're saying your weekend got a whole load more expensive? :D

At 57 , still being reasonably supple !!  I climb across without scuffing my feet or putting un due pressure on any part of the interior and simply climb out of the passenger door.

Any reason you don't reverse in and get out of the driver's door? Old Dukes of Hazzard habits die hard?

  6. @Berty987 knows a fair bit about the difference between normal cars and spyders IIRC, at least for mechanics.

I forget which panels are for weight-saving.

987.1 S Sport Edition suggests it's a 3.4. He says 3.2 exhaust headers are best, for example.

If you don't find Spyder wheels (good luck!) there are other light options around. Carrera Classics used to be some of the lightest OEM Porsche.  Consider also 18in rather than 19in, less weight, cheaper tyres, better feedback.
