Aha... I vaguely remember something about swapping headliners, that would explain it.

same price as CHW for a mohair with glass and headlining of £1050
Wow, that's gone up, they used to be 700 ish.

Awesome! Just downloaded mine - in early pages it has a full list of options codes, for anyone wanting to decipher them.

This is an aftermarket jobbie but not cheap at about $60 to UK plus any taxes/VAT/Duties
Wow, irritating - I was in Canada in April!
This is great for me though, thanks a lot.

LOL! Far from a relay expert, just some knowledge ....Sorry I can't be any real help on this one............
Still helpful. Thanks for taking time to reply :)

Wow, a relay expert (?). Can I jump in with a question?
On my Boxster, a quick dip of the flasher stalk makes it flash three times - perfect for indicating a gentle turn (clicking the stalk would then mean unclicking after as the turn isn't enough to self-cancel).
On my Toyota family car, a quick dip of the stalk means only one flash, short enough for most other drivers to miss.
Any idea how to introduce the former function to the latter? I assume it's "buy a different relay", I just wouldn't know where to start... Advice would be kind!

I've got all the glue off, polished and t cut it but sadly the paint is no more! I always thought it looked like the badge sat lower than on other cars, now I know why. Nothing is ever simple with this car. ?
I've stuck the old one back on with double sided tape as the bloody pins broke off removing that one too! They are very fragile.
@Sazzy I think the 986 and 987 badges are different, I wonder if an inappropriate badge was fitted, either the old or new one and the pins were in different places. A thought.

Drive it a bit, check the next day. Better than over-filling.

@Joolzb how did you get that black headlight surround? A few of us here bought some stick-on ones from the US, but not sure anyone was really happy with the final result. Is it just that, or is it painted...?

If you don't have a fancy product, I'm told a soaked towel laid over them for 20 minutes helps.

I was contemplating keeping them for putting winter tyres on but 18s would be more suitable for that I think, so I'm undecided especially as they are unmarked, have good tyres on the front, and almost new on the rear. But then what's the point in having a spare set of wheels sitting in the garage gathering dust (well they won't be as I have protective bags, but you get my drift)
Face reality and sell them.
Then discount the purchase price of the new ones by the recouped money, and tell us you picked up the Spyder wheels for £1200 the set.
At which point we'll all hate you psychopathically

Impressive to get those wheels. At risk of being rude - how much?

But, the best bit about the whole thing is that I got the girl!
Aww, sweet
So you're saying your weekend got a whole load more expensive?

Any reason you don't reverse in and get out of the driver's door? Old Dukes of Hazzard habits die hard?

@Mark Shead apparently

Any reason no-one just goes straight for the biggest available, eg 68>82?

@Berty987 knows a fair bit about the difference between normal cars and spyders IIRC, at least for mechanics.
I forget which panels are for weight-saving.
987.1 S Sport Edition suggests it's a 3.4. He says 3.2 exhaust headers are best, for example.
If you don't find Spyder wheels (good luck!) there are other light options around. Carrera Classics used to be some of the lightest OEM Porsche. Consider also 18in rather than 19in, less weight, cheaper tyres, better feedback.

Looks ok to me!
(People listen to what I say? Better watch my mouth in future! )
-
@Araf - are you able to transfer this classic to How To?
-
IIRC from when I tried to get DRLs coded at JZM on my 987.1 it was a headlights always on option???
Yup. I can set my DRLs on via PCM as I have Sport Chrono; sets headlights always on.
What have YOU done to your 986 today ?
