Not sure if you know this but often the caliper bolts can be seized, making it very difficult and time consuming to remove. Could add some costs that you haven't factored in.
Hopefully with yours being 8 years newer than mine it should be ok.

I was gutted that I recently missed a genuine grey one that sold for £60 on FB.

@kdh I'm only in Polegate if you need a hand.

I can't remember if it's been asked but how is the box under the passenger seat? if it's been wet it could be causing some of your issues.

Great advice / help, thanks. Just come home in the rain after a 30 mile journey. You wouldn’t know there was a problem. Yet earlier on when I started it up after 7 days. It was really playing me up. It’s always like this, windows mess around initially then later on in the trip behave themselves. Guaranteed if I go back to it in a few days it will behave in the same manner… anyway thanks for the detailed help and advice
You may have the same issue as me. It seems that the connector plug on mine is faulty so in some positions it works fine. I used a cable tie to secure it into a position that works most the time. Although it has now stopped again. I believe I need a different, harder to find 8 pin type. Still from a TT I believe. I should just steal the one off my TT mk1 I have stored away!!

I think you have a dodgy module under the passengers seat, can cause many of these symptoms.

Right now I have some airbag thingys coming to see if I can break in that way. I have a long steel stick with a hook to get hold of the interior door lock so should be able to get it open that way, but that might be optimistic.
I'd be grateful for any input before I get to the stage of breaking something - thought I'm not bothered about replacing a broken window if it comes to it - this car needs some serious tlc before I'm happy.
One in the ignition and another to tap the central locking button. Took about an hour, alarm went off a few times, this was after trying to pull a handle from the inside. Roof need replacing anyway.

Roof is up and I need to access engine!
If you open the roof at the catch then reach into the back and disconnect the ball joints you can then operate the roof manually.

Looking at the microswitch in the image above I'm pretty sure some water ingress from somewhere is to blame for the warning light. It may even be worth looking at getting a replacement switch and changing it out just in case.
Get a multimeter on it with a continuity tester.

Handbrake on? Maybe faulty handbrake switch?

OK mate.
Probably went pop because the gears either side have gone out of sync (due to motor overrun). When mine did this it bent the clamshell meaning it wouldn't properly go down on one side, I had to bend it back straight over a pillow.
There is a switch on the old style roof that stops the the motor when it's in position, can't remember if this is for fully open, fully closed or both but worth checking. This may be faulty or has come unplugged. Could have happened when you put on the hardtop as I think it's near the cable for the heated rear screen.
The switch is like this but only comes on the early cars as after a couple of years they changed the whole motor setup.
-
I can't see how a broken ball joint would put a light on. Are you sure you haven't disconnected the switch on the passengers side of the roof frame which tells the motor to stop when it's in the correct position?
I've replaced the roof, reset all the gear positions, replaced a motor, replaced a drip tray etc. I'm also not far from you so if you get stuck just shout, I'm sure we can get this sorted.

I thought I had leaks after a coolant change. Twice it did leak from the header area. Kept refilling it until it stopped. Hasn't lost a drop in months now. They are really bad for air locks.

Are they a recent purchase from the bay? There was a bargain set on there.
No, Marketplace. Just listed as Porsche wheels, the seller didn't have a clue what they were from. I almost bought the ones on ebay, think they were about £500 but the tyres were very old and the wheels looked like they had been poorly sprayed, although very local, I gave them a miss.
These ones ended up being even closer and I got them for £480. Tyres are mostly ok

Great that people check the story but not the date 2018...
I put 1 and 1 together and got 3. Didn't think there could be two Porsche fires in Sussex, also was relying, stupidly, on Google proving me with the info I had asked for.
Is it me or is Google mostly useless now, over crowded with old and outdated information or ads. There used to be a time when just using a little skill you could find anything, now it's just a shyate show.

Oh damn it, bloody electric cars!!
Someone doesn't like Sussex Porsche indys. -
I have literally just changed to 18's from my stock 17s, I also have Carrera cups. Haven't had the chance to drive it yet, will report back on friday if the weather is nice.
The roads around Eastbourne aren't in bad shape currently, give it a few months though....

If I understand correctly, the fire began with an electric car.
Don't you start that!!!
Everyone loves to blame an electric car lol. I hope it wasn't and this is probably more anti-EV propaganda.
"The fire is believed to have started in the roof of the building."

Once you have it installed I'd love to see some pics. I have the grey interior too and would love to have the delete as well. I think it would give me the legroom to make the car really comfortable.
Unfortunately, there has been a delay which has resulted in a refund. Hopefully production issues will get resolved and I can go forward with the project.

By the looks of it, the car is a 'Sport Edition'.
I haven't heard of that model, do you mean an S?

Mine, with a sport edition add on
Does the "Sport Edition" signify anything or just a design choice?

Oh, ok, it looks different for some reason, I thought they had a centre grill too on the later ones but I am guessing that must be just the S. Certainly much more aggressive than my original one. I would ideally love a gen1 aero.

Damn and blast - Boxster S wheels are rubbing on front brake calipers.

This is a nice little guide - http://www.944racing.de/wheelweights.php
All 17s on 986 wheels are minimum 7" wide. 987s went down to 6.5" minimum.
I haven't noticed any ride quality difference going to 18s but I don't do a lot of miles.
