Finally got my hands on some fly catchers and fitted them! Car looks so much better. They seem a little too easy to just clip in, does anyone secure them with anything more?

They have a surprisingly lose fit. I don't use anything on mine on a track I'd imagine they would be safe up to 110mph so normal uk road use would be fine.

You could put one black cable tie at the bottom that would stop it d disappearing

  2. Bought a new clamshell as my current appeared to be damaged when my old roof failed.

Fitted the new clamshell looked ok it'll need repainting yipee.

Then refitted old clamshell and found you can alter the alignment by adjusting the screws slightly  oh feking great it now fits perfectly lol

    Clamshell added to parts bin

  3. Driving back from my moms last night around 9pm dual carriage way, national speed limit - football sized rock in the middle of the road only missed it as I was changing lanes, gave me a big scare! - pushed hazards on as I was being followed by a few cars saw someone pullover so hopefully they moved it.

It was on my to do list anyway, I just bought it forward. I dunno why but I'm so conscious, I've never been to anything like this before and don't know what to expect I guess.

You'll be fine, just enjoy the day and I hope the weather is as good as it was last year for you guys :)

One guy near where we parked spent almost the whole day cleaning his car!

I'm pleased to read this as mine is sparkling right now but won't be after coming up from Cornwall, and it's worrying me!!! All the cars in the YT vids are immaculate :worried: ??

A few people were cleaning cars during the event. I was off enjoying the other cars

Ongoing fettling of the recent 986 purchase

Hate having bits not quite right so changed the front aero lips by the front wheels including the fixings - even though there's only minor damage to the existing ones :whistle1:

I also did this as one of the few things I can actually do :)

Took the car out properly for the first time since getting it back on Wednesday, having had, amongst other work, two new front tyres and laser wheel alignment.

OH MY GOD, I have a different car!!! I actually cannot believe how much better it feels and drives! Much more planted at the front end. Very chuffed. :D

exactly the same as me, I even got my wife to drive it as I was convinced something was wrong as it felt so different :)

She said it feels totally smooth and very safe in the corners

That's what I am aiming for!

The aiming bit isn't hard, it's the bill bit at the end.

I've seen people mention just changing the coffin arms can make a big difference to handling, I need to give it a proper go tomorrow but it handles so different now it's uncanny.

  10. Got the car back from Cotswold Porsche after having a rear wheel bearing done, what started out as a couple of extra jobs turned into 4 new coffin arms, tuning fork  and a four wheel alignment.

the car is so planted now, previously my car must have been so out of align that this feels like a new car :)

Yes, electric Lidl rattle gun (rather than air). So your rattle gun with undo 130nm torqued bolts?

Why have you removed the spacers?

Sounds like you have the exact same impact wrench then, it supposed to have up to 320nm for release and 100nm for tighten

It will remove the bolts torqued to 130nm very easily.

I bought the 4x9mm spacers last year, I couldn't get the front wheels to balance right so took them off the front, I've now taken them off the rear as the cars in for some work Thursday and it's a good time as any to take them off, they were on for the stance only and I no longer feel need for them.

Hmmm...maybe something wrong with mine? It's not strong enough to start undoing the bolt and won't do up to torque. I have to fight using a breaker bar initially and a torque wrench to finish. Do you?

Is yours the rattle gun?  mine will take the bolts out in like 30 secs for all 5, it only tightens to 100nm max as a safety feature so I torque the rest.

It took me longer to get set up than remove the wheels :)
