Im seriously considering the Macan Gts , i dont think ill have any chance of getting in and out of a 911 or gt4.

There is a facelift model coming out. The dash is 992 like and updated info system along with some exterior tweeks .

Unfortunately this isnt available to order until later in the year.

They have stopped taking factory orders for the present model as well.

Thats interesting Mike. When I dropped the registration documents in to the OPC for my GT4 I mentioned out of interest I had put my current, 6 month old, Macan GTS into WBECs system and they had indicated a value less than £5k less than I paid for it. The OPC said they'd probably offer more. Certainly made me think!

I haven’t seen the 718 Spyder in the wild but I saw a black 718 GT4 and what a mean looking it was! The front and rear bumpers are epic on these cars, I don’t think John will be disappointed 😎

Yes they do look rather mean don't they!

  3. Thanks Stuart! @Stuart21UK I have to say I think the car looks stunning! Counting down the days but have got a bit worried as a number of people who ordered caysters with the 4.0 engine have had their order cancelled and offered a built slot in July/August for delivery in September or later. The cause of this is both the requirement to change circa 1000 engines worldwide on 4.0 cars, and the shortage of computer chips. I've been in touch with the OPC who have said my car is still shown as being built, now on 1 June, and they as they have already had one cancellation, for a 25 Anniversary Boxster so they think mine should be ok. First World problems eh!

That is true but not everyone needs a 380 BHP daily, the power is lovely but it’s not essential in my opinion. Either way any Macan is a cracking car even the baby 2.0 of the group

Agreed! I've driven the 2.0 one and thought it a really good car.

I suspect if you want to follow what @JohnSyn has done, pushing the limits of the car as hinted above, you might not be able to keep that.

Thats right Meno. My warranty expired in January but having already made the decision not to renew it I was comfortable with the work I've had done. There are many arguments for and against the warranty but I am perfectly happy to take the risk. And the fruits of the improvements the car are great!

Haha @JohnSyn - not quite, but it HAS to be reversed in (so I can use the mirrors for placement), and rear near side up tight against the brick pillar to give me as much space to open the drivers door as possible. Helps to have the roof down, and driver’s window down once in the garage, to get in and out of the car!!

There is a lip in the garage floor of about 40mm, which the rear wheels come up against right when the car is part-way in, with the side mirrors just before the metal frame of the garage door, with just 25mm either side between mirror tips and the door frame. Right at the point you’ve got to give the car a bit of beans to get up the lip (yes, I’ve put some wood down to lessen the “step”. Touch wood, I’ve always been lined-up correctly so far!!!

    Tight fit!

Now thats what I call close! Great bit of manoeuvring ! Now I can see the car has been reversed in, doh!

  7. Nice car @Withy

I got mine 4 weeks ago and love it, it’s definitely a step up from the gen1 GTS

One of the many things different on this car is the way the oil pressure is regulated. I thought there was a problem but it’s normal! The pressure settles around 1.5 bar and only goes above that when the engine is loaded. Thought I’d let you know in case, like me, you think there is something wrong!

    Anyway, enjoy your car!

isn't the macan going full EV next time round?

Apparently, as well as an EV version of the Macan in 22 or 23 there will also be new petrol and maybe hybrid Macans too, like the Panamera and Taycan.

  9. @Withy..Thought I'd let you know, my OPC has been in touch and my car is now being built on 23 October, and should be available to pick up 12-15 November which is before the previous date given for building the car! Apparently they are keen to get UK cars built and shipped!

    That’s an awesome Spec.

Thanks!  I've bought too many new ones and still am a sucker on the configurator! I like your spec, they look great in Midnight blue.

I don't know whether you've had a go in a GTS but they are truly great cars to drive. Whilst different to the Boxster they can be thrown around like a hot hatch. And they are pretty quick too!

You don’t rate the Burmester sound system? Or you prefer to hear the sound of the GTS?

    Hows your trade in Value?

I do like the Burmester system but not at that price! I find the Bose system suits me fine.

Was happily surprised as to how strong the trade in value will be but WBAC offered nearly £44k!

Damn!!! Just seen the price of the Burmester!!!

    Yep!

  12. Nice one...you will love driving it! I'm swopping my current GTS in for a new GTS, to be built in November and due in December. I was going to get one next April when my car is three years old but I didn't want to take the chance of tariffs after the end of the year. I've gone a bit more mad than you with the configurator; Porsche code PMQTTQ37.

This will be my third Macan. I had my name down for the EV version due in 2022 but decided I'm not yet ready for an EV as a daily driver.

Morning John, I'm so pleased with the results. The car pulls like a train with a beautiful bi-tonal exhaust note that comes in from 2k onwards; as if you can hear every cylinder firing, very V6 ish, difficult to explain.

Of course the individual pipes and new 110mm tips help with the tone and do look nice filling up the aperture at the rear. I did post the photos incase you missed them in

"What have you done to your 981 today"

Thanks Neil, thats really helpful. I'm definitely thinking of fitting this. Did they supply the gaskets?

Had new equal length headers with 200 cell sports cats fitted today😃, not by myself I might add but over Solihull way at Zuffenhaus.

The good news is that all the manifold bolts came out in one piece, after a bit of warm persuasion.

First impressions on the drive home:

The exhaust sound has altered; not louder but a most pleasant tone when burbling along then turning into a real howl at full chat.

I am sure there is an improvement to the torque lower down and once past 3.5K it takes off like a screaming banshee!

In my opinion, it was money well spent.

Neil..how are these now you've had them fitted for a while?
