Gave the wheel arches a wash and brush up. Nearside were the worst to clean. Need to find something to clear that rust of the hub centres. Car 6 years old next month.

Note - the weeds on the drive are being dealt with tomorrow!

My thoughts exactly the same John, don’t want to feck it up by simply not releasing a didn’t know is there etc.

having seen all the cr*p that @Toeside dropped out once he removed his bumper, I know there will still be quite a bit unseen, but at least I’ve cleared what was there at the front, before the grilles went back on.

I'm sure there are a lot of guys on here who will lend a hand David as and when you decide to do it

No John, took the grilles off in November prior to an inspection. Have done about 350 miles without them on, so not huge build up in there, but once lockdown eased and I’m back out in it....

woudl ideally like to take the front bumper off and I’m sure I’ll find loads more debris, but just lacking a bit of confidence to do that despite some very good how-to guides on YouTube etc. Would prefer to wait and probably get some help, once restrictions lifted.

Phew! Thanks David I thought for second some of that detritus had bypassed the grills!! I know what you mean about removing the front bumper, if and when I do it I'll enlist the help of some of the guys on here who have done it before!

Thanks...when we can may go and have a look at this .

they would need to come down a far bit but looks good, have been back and forth for a while now but will have to make a decision soon.

    Good luck Adrian.

johnsyn. that looks a great car..did you have it from new , how long have they had if for sale in london ?

    Hi Adrian

Yes I was one of the lucky ones who got an allocation. I spec'd the car, which makes me sure the car in Porsche South London was mine. I'm not sure how long they have had it although I got some paperwork through about 4 months ago asking me to confirm the mileage when I sold the car, in 2017. The car cost £70k and I sold it for £73.5k. People were asking a lot more for them then, £80k plus, but I was happy as I got £3.5k more than the dealer had offered as trade in against my 991. I didn't advertise the car, just picked up somebodies comments on the Spyder Facebook page!

I specced a new Macan Turbo recently just for a laugh to see how much my ‘current’ Macan spec would cost, with only a couple of extras that I’m missing on the current one. Interestingly I did tick the Burgmeister sound system & in all honesty in the Macan I WOULD add it

I'm interested that you would add that to the Macan Gary. I'm still very much enjoying my Macan GTS, got out of my Macan  diesel just in time! I have to say I don't like the light bar, across the top of the boot, on the latest ones. I'm waiting for the EV version and will see how things are then.

I agree with @Stuart21UK and as you know @JohnSyn how good Bose sound in the quiet comfort of the Macan, thus Burgmeister sound in the Macan would be fantastic.

As such it’s honestly wasted in the 911 as it would be in a Boxster. As neither offer the quiet cabin & acoustics that make the more expensive option worthwhile.

In fact Gary it was a guy with a 718 Spyder, on Pistonheads,  who said he felt he had benefited from the burmester system. Could be played loudly with the roof down and still hear the music clearly. Of course there were the usual culprits who had an opinion!

I think Bose is pretty good as-is

I do Stuart..had it on all my Porsches. It's just a thread on Pistonheads that has intrigued me.

Agreed, was thinking of the 987 spyder

    👍👍

The 718 Spyder looks a great car though, obviously a step up from the 981 version other than sound. I found raising and closing the roof, on the 981 version, too much for what I wanted out of the car.

Ive always loved the spiders and that roof is better than the previous version which was a bit of faff, its just looks right

The roof, and the way it is taken down, seems exactly the same as the 981 Spyder.
