I maybe be wrong but I thought that when wheels are refurbished they treat any corrosion and use some kind of filler to bring the surface level before powder coating / painting.
When people ask what is the difference between say Lepsons and Jo Bloggs powder coating it is this kind of thing namely the finish. If the wheel is scarred badly even Lepsons would struggle but they would advise you of the issue. I believe it is difficult to use regular fillers because of the temperature when powder coating but I’ve heard there are a few tricks they can do to hide/improve it.

Sometimes the corrosion scars the wheel if it has been there along time. I had a bit on my 987 lobster claws.

I used Chris to do mine, excellent service and finish 👌

Yes but it should come supplied with them but if not it is the red 3m body shop tape. It does come in different widths so you would need to have a measure 👍

They will be stuck on with 3m bodyshop tape, which is very strong and won’t drop off.
My Spyder splitters are held on with it and after 2 years and lots of jet washing no movement 👍

They aren’t cheap but mine fitted really well and look factory. Plus you don’t have to faff about removing bumpers or trimming mesh.
I tried Zunsports on my 986 and wasn’t impressed with the look or the fit. I ordered some more for my 987.1 and only held them up in place before I sold them.

I went for Millers TRX , but I don’t think there is a lot in it , new good oil and old original oil , it’s got to be better?
I think I spotted Bally today on the M6 by junction 10. The Cayman spoiler was what caught my eye as I was half asleep, the car looked great 👍

Finally booked mine in for a big service, plugs, brake fluid, possibly coils.
Ive booked it in with Ramus, sounds like it maybe expensive but it is due more to the time than the mileage.

Sometimes it is nice when you have a break from these cars, it always surprises me how good they are to drive. It is amazing how numb the steering has gone in modern cars compared with the more old school setup, I love it can’t stand steering with no feedback 👍

Another has hit the market this week.....x3 in one week after none for a while......this one also at a recognised Indy Portacraft.....404....already on the register...manual / basic spec / 47k miles £22k........decent price so I don’t think it will sit around for long.........the recognised indys really are turning over some stock this year...sourcing good stock and pricing fairly and they sell quick 😉
ps.........pics make you realise how high the none PASM cars sit on standard suspension......really needs to be lowered 😉
Looks very high 😂
Also I didn’t see any embossing on the hood so maybe had a replacement, although I was watching on my phone 😎

I think it is priced about right for the mileage, mine has half that mileage and a better spec and I guessed it is probably worth £20-22k but I’m not selling anytime soon 😎

Great results and fairly priced😎

Blimey, I think you had your money’s worth out the old ones 👍

Looks a decent job for the money 👍
Cant tell if there’s powder on the back of the hub but if there is it needs removing 😎

Definitely taking shape, I was surprised how much difference the 5mm spacers made. It must be to do with the shape of the Spyder wheels but definitely a worthwhile mod.
I think the spoiler is looking good as well although I’m not a 100% sold on the clear lights.
I personally think the Black Edition needs the bright red lights to break it up but they do look more modern and look as if they fit well. I’ve had fitting issues in the past with aftermarket lights.
Maybe they will grow on me but they definitely suit the blacked out sort of look your going for👍

Looks fantastic 👍👍

Mine is still missing from your register Jon.
Since the above post, I have also fitted the following Porsche parts (if you are including OEM retrofits):
991 GT2 carbon fibre bucket seats (just like the 987 Spyder/Cayman R ones but heated and with headrest crests)
GT3 RS door pulls (not for the weight saving, as there is none, but because I think they look cool and I managed the job without breaking anything!)
987 Spyder/Cayman R PDK gear selector (same but with red accents)
997 GT3 82mm throttle body (OK, it needed an IPD plenum to make it fit which isn't Porsche but you can't see that)
Sounds interesting Clive, I look forward to some pictures but it sounds epic.
Cant help wondering if you’ve been bank robbing while in lockdown to pay for all this stuff 😂👍

£280 is pretty average/cheap, you have got to wonder how much effort they are going to put in to them. Most people aren’t as particular as we are, as long as they are silver and shiny job done but this doesn’t excuse your powder coater.
From a business point of view you have got to get a lot of wheels through at that price to cover overheads and turn a profit. That means less care is taken resulting in quality issues.
There are powder coaters popping up all the time by us, offering crazy cheap deals just to get the work but the results are always the same.
I have always said powder coating alloys is one of those things you really do get what you pay for.
