swapped out rusty wheel bolts for shiny new ones with 7mm spacers.
Did you use longer bolts for the 7mm spacers or standard length? I have a pair waiting to go on...

There was some white smoke from the exhaust when i started it today to move it about on the drive, but I'm sure i read somewhere on here that's quite normal (i hope)... 😄White smoke! 😱 You have bought a wrongun! Hehe no quite normal. Probably wont happen every time - mine is worse if it has been sitting or after a short journey or just a potter - give it a blast and it doesn't happen. These cars do respond well to an Italian Tune Up so enjoy giving it a 'good thrashing'!

@Medic-one Small steps... any Porsche paranoia about premature failures kicking in yet? 😄

I used this type of impact driver not an impact gun.
I have a very similar one and it has the correct tip in the box to. A very useful tool.

Brake disc screws respond to a really firm hit with a hammer and old screwdrivwer before attempting removal.
And even better an impact driver…

@bally4563 did mine for me using his portable acetylene torch kit. Burnt them out in under a minute each one. Brilliant bit of kit which I ever needed wouldn't hesitate to buy. Luckily Mick was only just down the road from me otherwise I would still have been running my (very successful) home made bent washer clamps.

A related question so hope the OP wont mind the slight thread creep.
I have a set of 7mm/15mm spacers ready to go on mine. Do people fit longer bolts when fitting these spacers? If so what length? My gut feel is that the 7mm spacer would be fine with the standard bolts but I am wary that the 15mm spacer might be a thread (or two) too far for standard bolts.

That top right bottom bolt
Funny description Mick, but I know what you mean! Did you bleed the system OK? I think you have a vacuum filler don't you?

Liking the fogs, Many of them seem to protrude too much for me and have wide chrome surrounds. Cant really see yours in detail. Any chance of posting a couple of close ups of a single fitted foglight from the front and from the side. Much appreciated if you can.
Thanks

I think Meno was correct he just got the year wrong! 🤔

I have a pair of 15mm and 7mm sitting in the garage waiting to be fitted. I probably need to get some longer bolts first.

A piece of carpet and a length of 2x2 does it for me.

I cleaned mine in the summer. I was previously skeptical so surprised when it made quite a big difference. I wouldn't say mine zipped back uncontrollably but they do retract. I shall have to try a bit of silicone too - that might even stop a further build up of crud.

Fitted low beam nighteye LEDS.Sadly they flicker a lot and I can’t work out if the 2 cobs should be facing up and down or left and right?Any ideas?
I thought they were designed so they only fitted one way? Probably wrong but when I did mine I didn't notice any problems.

Got her lowered on H&R Springs with full alignment done
I know many people go lower but I am surprised as even though I have standard suspension virtually every time I go out for a spirited drive I scrape the front end over dips. I suppose the harder springs compensate for the lower ride height.

Newbie here and first post. Nervously took my new purchase (2008 987.1 2.7 with 62k) to a local Porsche specialist for a brake fluid change and a decent inspection. Stressed for 2 hours thinking I'd bought a Boxter with all the nasties looming and it was pronounced in very good nick. Bit of scoring on the rear discs and an odd stain on the roof lining and that was it. Phew!
Absolutely love the car and very pleased I found BoXa.net as it's given me hours of decent reading and food for thought. 😀
Welcome fellow 2008 2.7 newbie. What you were feeling is termed Porsche paranoia. It is a permanent ailment made worse by constantly reading BoXa.net. Your welcome!

Front and rear control arms and two front wishbones( with both lower bolts bar -stewards to get out)!! Kepted me busy
Mick - you are hard at it again! What technique did you use on the bolts? Hot axe again? Going to work on my front suspension over the winter as my bag of snooker balls is getting bigger and bigger!
