  1. I think the reason I have done the warranty ( non Porsche) is it gives me a bit of protection against the larger bills, unless the claim is not honoured of course. Also I can start wearing my brakes down now and not think of OPC charging £500 a corner for discs/pads, ha,ha

  2. Yes i understand peoples negative views of warranties, but as Topradio says, it can give some people a little peace of mind.  The way i see it is my starter motor could pack up , then my £790 warranty would probably have  been a good buy. Hopefully i never need to find out, Ha,Ha!

Lofi,  i have PM you the chaps details, speak to him direct . cheers   Alan

  3. Just managed to get the hourly rate increased to £200+vat, so that will enable me to use a local OPC , as their rate is £165+vat. So apart from the risk of them not paying out, the £790 for 18 months, with no excess, or component contribution, and Infotainment/Nav, seems quite attractive.

  4. Similar problem, had a service ,6yr one, done by independent when got car from sytner(their choice)in march. Now if want OPC warranty I need to get it done again by them, at a cost of £1200 with filters,Belt, oil etc. Plus 111 check and warranty cost, in total about £2500, ouch. My sytner warranty runs out in march, Motoreasy said I can reserve offer till march for £40.

  5. Hi, Sent an e mail to various Warranty companies suggesting that their needs to be a warranty comparable to the OPC one, which does not restrict to having opc servicing, etc

Got a call this morning from MOTOREASY,  and they have come up with the following,-

Everything covered ,inc infotainfment and nav.  Wear/tear covered . Things found at service/mot covered . Single claim limit to value of car . Hourly garage rate of £144 inc vat .

18 Months for £790,  payable in 3 instalments of £250, plus £40 down to reserve.   NO Requirment to use OPC for servicing

  6. My only worry about gluing the mesh was that when you remove the side vent facias you tend to put fingers in and behind the facia edge to pull it off,  Using tape you would be able to force the grill back. But using glue it is more permanent. Alan

  7. I enquired about vinyl wrapping my headlights and was put off, also coincidently I was reading my user manual this morning and saw a warning in their about putting film on headlights. I think it can restrict the heat escaping and could cause delamination of the Headlight Lens ( £1000 each). So I would think twice about it. cheers   alan

  8. No, only clear. Watching videos, on large areas it is fitted using soapy water on both vinyl and car. But tried on the vent and being such a small area it just dlid around. So I did it dry and it was ok. Once you have stuck it to flat area's, it can be heated briefly and formed around the curvy bits using thumb, does not need to be really hot, a heat gun on low or hairdryer on high . Excess cut using scalpel. Any other questions just ask. Alan
