  1. Bit off the wall solution to the Ariel problem , this guy fitted a sharks fin Ariel under the front bumper , seems to work for him ok ( I know it's in French but you get the idea ) !

Thanks, the carbon trim styling was optioned from new and one of things that made me really want this car. I was a little nervous unclipping and unscrewing it to fit the replacement head unit in as it's blooming expensive to replace 😳

Glad I didn't ask if it was dipped !

Thankfully found the source of my alarm woes - a wobbly fuse C3. The alarm unit is in great nick, no signs of water or damage and at 22 years old I'm guessing that means it's been replaced at some point, before which someone's had to pull this fuse on a frequent basis.

Found the water ingress point too - drivers door! Wondering if I can be arsed taking the carpets out or just get a dehumidifyer. Well I don't have a dehumidifyer...... 😝

Sadly you might have to bite the bullet and take the carpets out , been there and done that with a car I had a leak with , draped the carpet over some wheelie bins to dry out , it took days to dry out fully , surprising how much water a carpet can hold !

Took the plunge and started looking at brake pipe replacement. Removed a few undertrays to gain access and see what I was dealing with. Just need to confirm the thread sizes and buy the bits. Easy ones first then figure out how to get across over the gearbox.

I found it easier to remove the boot lid , remove the engine cover and kneel in the boot and work the pipework over the top of the gearbox and then put the flares on the pipework when I was happy with the result .

Time well spent I'd say, not wasted.  Looks like a great finish, I limit my painting skills to hidden items and brake calipers as I don't want to foul up on anything that visible.

Painting was a few coats of paint gradually built up as not to get any runs , followed by a few coats of clear lacquer , cost about £20 all in

  6. Fixed the broken tab on the "flycatcher" wind deflector

Stuck the broken tab back on to get the correct profile

cut and shaped a piece of aluminium to reinforce the tab

fixed it in place with some epoxy resin

gave it a couple of coats of black paint

Hey! I am going to do this, but will use a 5 bar black VDO gauge and a 996 sender. Oil temp would be nice, but I am not sure what the right place to put the sender is.

There is a Allen headed plug located towards the rear of the engine just underneath the air filter housing , undo it and then fit the temperature sender in its place  , be warned though access is awkward

Easy enough to plumb in? I’ve heard there’s just a blank you can use?

You need to change the oil pressure switch to a 2 post connection type (14x1.5 thread on mine) and then run a wire to the new gauge , bit of a faff but not a bad job , the blank you can use is to fit an oil temperature gauge
