Renewed the rear brake pipes , they were mentioned at MOT time so I thought I might as well bite the bullet and do them ,the N/S was easy but the O/S was a pain , FYI , I found taking the boot lid off and kneeling in the boot gave better access to the engine bay and I could clip the new brake pipe into the original pipe clips , so that's all the brake pipes done in copper so they should last the life of the car now .

Looks pretty clean, is this a difficult job?
Not that difficult , just be careful with the idler pulleys though , they have different spacers on the back of them , this is worth a watch as it gives you a decent idea

Changed the idler pulleys and drive belt , only one pulley was showing any real wear (upper one) but I thought if one is on the way out the other two won't be far behind
-
Changed the time on the clock 1 hour forward

Got mine back from D+G in Newcastle , they renewed the main front to back brake pipe , replaced the battered "spats" and found the annoying cause of the horn beeping when locking - turned out to be a bad connection to the radio cage

Nothing exciting , changed the oil and filter

Changed the pollen filter , not earth shattering but it was strangely satisfying

Which ones, all of them?
As the car is now 19 years old I thought it might be the best idea

Has anyone had the brake pipes on a 986 renewed and what sort of price could I expect to pay from a decent Indy ?
-
Put mine through its MOT , which it passed thankfully , although got an advisory on the brake pipes being a bit crusty , at 19 years old i suppose I can't complain about that too much ?

Adjusted the clock an hour back , then took the car out to stretch its legs after being parked up for a while

Today I fitted some new door mounted speakers to replace the wheezy originals , luckily the mounting brackets matched the originals exactly and even managed to use the original wiring ( ok , I had to reverse the large/small bayonet connectors , a bit of crimping sorted that out )

Says my 2001 2.7 is compliant - no charge , just a pity I have no intention of driving in London !

Not in the same league as GT3 seats but I fitted a pair of horns to replace the one weedy working horn and also cleaned out the radiators and condensers ,( which was strangely satisfying )

I was planning to paint the brake callipers , but I decided to make the most of the weather and had a nice drive up into Northumberland and on to Jedburgh ( very scenic town if you're passing ) a cup of tea and a bit of cake and a nice drive back .

Brilliant, thank you and about £150?
£ 135 + vat + £ 9.99 p+p , I did the exchange option so I wasn't without the car while the work was being done , this was a returnable deposit of £ 200 .

Looks good and this is on my list to do.
Can I ask what colours these are, is that black and red?
Thank you.
Orange stitching to match the interior and a mixture of smooth and perforated black leather

Nice work. Would love to see a picture of the camera, sounds odd I know! I was thinking of putting one to the right of the rear registration plate, there seems to be a round part perfect for it on the bumper.
It was a combined number plate holder/camera/reversing sensor , not very elegant but it works ok

Fitted a reversing camera/sensor and hooked it up to my Xtrons double din , it was a bit involved !
What have YOU done to your 986 today ?

Made them myself , to be honest they weren't desperately bad but they were the only ones I hadn't renewed , if the gearbox is out it will be a whole lot easier .
