  1. I know this thread is a little old now but after all this rain and snow we have just had I would check your carpets if you leave yours outside.

Having owned a 986 for 8 years and always parking outside I always clean my drains out on my 986 and it's so easy compared to a 981 I have to say I'm a little in shock 😲  at how much more work it is having just put an holding deposit on 981 boxster

Yeah thanks for the PM my car was registered in November 2001 so is a MY2002 and going by the instructions above it says you should not run a wire from the cluster to the DME in 2000 to 2002 cars as they don’t need the wire to light up the cruise control light in the dash hence my question

Sorry I'm a little late to this I dont get on here often now but you are right my car is a 2000 MY 2001 and I did not wire that as per the instructions and thanks to all the information on here and Chris's help mine worked as soon as Lee at Cotswold Porsche specialists activated it.

And unpacked again at this rather nice gite in the north Loire near Le Mans that we've been visiting for a few years now.  Cracking run down the old N138 from Rouen for those Le Mans veterans out there who remember the days before the autoroute was built.

Looking good have a good week I'll miss driving in France this year.

Top nuts are tough, but they are distorted not round like K nuts so they don't come lose.  Took a 450Nm impact wrench and tightly clamped grips on the top of the damper piston to get mine off, and then on again to the correct torque even after copious Plusgas and freeze release cycles.

I don't have a impact wrench if they are that hard I might let Lee sort them for me🔧

Replaced both boot gas struts and gave the hinges and pivots a clean and lube. Now the boot lid doesn't fall on my bonce any more!

Something I must get round to doing vothe front and rear, but I'm fed up of spending money on it so maybe in a month or when my head hurts to much.

But I suppose its because I don't live there I see locals with thick coats on when its 30 in Spring.

Lobbed out £520 notes on  Michelin ps4s

I did the same a few months back but I was stupid and let the same tyre garage do a four wheel alignment or should I say out of alignment more like Lee at CPS re did them and they been really good on my current road trip as it rained from England to well passed Paris and in Spain it been blue sky and top down and they feel really good.

Nothing some time and money can't fix.

    Hope not too much money.

Re your comment about your windows "Also intriguingly the windows were open this morning (definitely close when I locked it up last night)"

Don't know if you know this but if you hold down the unlock button on the the remote key a little longer than normal or will hope both windows, useful on a hot day.

How far away is your washing machine did the key when wet send a single?

That's a 718 clockspring for a heated wheel.  It is only used on the 718 - no other models.  Unlike the 981 (which has about 8 variants), it looks like there are only two 718 clocksprings - one for heated wheels, and one without.  To be honest, I think you are in completely uncharted territory here.  I think you have two options.  a) Change back to your original clockspring, fit both adapters, and do the coding again (99% likely to work IMO) or b) Leave the 982 clockspring in place, remove the GPS adapters and re-code it (50:50 IMO).

I suspect that if the 718 clockspring worked on a 981 then Porsche would offer it as a replacement for the 981, which they don't.

Richard if they had such a thing as Mastermind for Porsche you would win it hands down.👍

Sound with hood down is a major improvement with the speakers in the back being only inches from your ears and the better sound field of new two way speakers both front, and now in the back too, adds depth that wasn't there before.  I reckon it is a well worth while upgrade.  Thanks to @John2000 for his input into this for me.

Well done, I totally agree even for an old f##t like me being totally deaf in my right ear the difference is amazing.

Still enjoying the cruise control and you where a much bigger help with that than I was with the rear speakers.

  11. Been to visit Lee @CotswoldPS for him to get his magic box out and turn on my cruise control and OBC both turned 9n in no time and I was one my way with a big smile on my face

Also a big thanks to @Richard Hamilton he was a big help and even a bigger thanks @½cwt  for answering so many of my question having been in the Army a long time ago it preparation  preparation  preparation was drilled into me so I did ask a lit of questions before I started.

Just wished i had not started one of the hottest days of the year with no shade it nearly killed me

If you want OBC & cruise you will need the 4 stalk. From personal experience the cruise is slow and steady work to fit, mine had OBC already but from the write ups the OBC seems rather more connections to make electronically.

Thanks you have been a big help with your posts and the link you sent but I missed out on that one .

I'm in no rust yet I've spent so much lately I need to let my wallet  cool down

Just fitted my refurbished 18" summer wheels with a new set of rear tyres along with new stainless steel wheel bolts and new centre caps courtesy of @marts500. They make the rest of the car look a bit scruffy now.

I didn't k how he was supplying stainless steel bolts now as well as centre caps.

I can recommend his centre caps had none on now a few years and they look better than the rest of my car.
