  1. I actually ended up taking my wheels direct to Lepsons myself, simply put the car on axle stands and dropped them in then collected a few days later - very pleased with the results, you can see below the before and after, the wheels are really smooth and fitted perfectly - I did also buy new wheel bolts and centre caps and new tyres.  Great improvement on how they were, car rolls down the road really well now and grip is very good.

  2. I have owned mine for just over a year.  Simply put I smile everything I get in and every-time I walk by her.  I have spent a fair amount in keeping my car at a really good standard and so I have certainly treated her as a keeper.  I don’t actually drive a car everyday (train a lot into London) and we have others cars as we have two young boys to take to football and other events. But when ever I can I use my 987.1, so I guess it’s more like a weekend car and I do tend to tuck her up for the winter in the garage.

There will always be another car that takes your eye from time to time, but Porsche just have that extra special something, I had a lovely BMW Z3 3 litre straight six before my Boxster but out of the two the Boxster wins hands down.

  3. Hi All,

I was looking for a new head unit to replace the standard cdr24 (non Bose) and came across the Kenwood DMX9720XDS which has a massive 10.1 inch screen which is adjustable and designed to use a double din for installation, it also apparently can plug into the ECU to show you all sorts of car information.  I was wondering if anyone has fitted one and what they thought of it? My car is a 987.1.

  4. Evening all,

I have put my car up on axle stands while the wheels are away being refurbished.   So today I sarted having a good look at the brakes etc.  I was concerned to find that the brake pipes coming out of the calipers and going to the flexible brake pipe on all four corners look pretty rusty (see picture below) so thought I would ask if anyone else has had this problem? I assume I will just buy new ones from Porsche or 911 or somewhere and fit them (I'm not sure of the process though, hence why I am asking).  Any advice will be gratefully recieved.

  6. I have had a chat to Chris at Exel and he is super helpful, he has sent me pictures of red Boxsters with different colour wheels but he recommended go back to stock Porsche silver and having looked at them I have decided to go with that.  So will leave the side vents as they will tie in well now.  I shall have to do some before and some after shots.  The quality of the wheels he showed me was brilliant.

  7. Whilst on the subject, just looked at the wheel bolts and can see they need a refresh too if I’m going to get the wheels done.  I saw there was some recommendations for longer bolts with the wheel spacers, but any suggestions for normal bolts please?

  8. Thanks all, it looks like everyone uses Chris at Excel so I will give him a call and see what is the best way to get these refurbished - I had not realised how difficult it is to envisage your wheels a different colour or design until I started trying to imagine this.  @Menoporsche I see what you mean about the Fuchs tribute, I guess these started out as standard silver and someone has added the black.
