Yes it does! Pretty much what I'm looking for.

Thanks for the input - it was the answer I was expecting but not the one I was hoping for...

... I bought the one from Aliexpress the day after I got my facelifted 986 and then realised the rear spoiler and top of the bumper are different, d'oh!

The Aliexpress spoiler has just arrived 10 minutes ago, so will be up for sale to pre-facelift 986 owners!

    So I guess I'm looking for either;

    1. Joe Toth's 986.2 spoiler, or

    2. I read that a 987 Cayman S spoiler will fit, either

    a) with some modifications to the original struts, or

    b) a direct fit using the Cayman S mechanism and struts

Can anyone confirm if 2b is accurate?!

    Thanks again.

The Joe Toth is probably your easiest option without any modification, the cayman spoiler is possible and should work but I think is still a little bit of work and adjustment, I looked into this option myself but finding a used cayman spoiler for reasonable money is a different story

    Good luck with it

I know it isn't specifically answering the question most recently asked, but in case it may help I have added some pics of the JT one I fitted a while ago if that helps with deciding if too big or not:

    That looks great 😊

Sorry to bump an old thread but does anyone have an answer to the above? Thanks.

Yes the facelift 986 has a slightly different spoiler shape to accommodate the different bumper shape too, Joe Toth does both variants and they now show on his page I think as a 986.1 and a 986.2 ducktail.  They also show as out of stock but you just message him and he makes to order. I have one on my wish list too at some point with the zeinwing not fitting the facelift.

    There you go @Saxosim

    Remember to disconnect battery 👍🏼
Once you get the b pillar trim away you will see how to remove the seatbelt reel, there’s a pin that holds it in to the roll bar that can be a little fiddly but other than that it is quite easy, can even be done with the roof up in the shyte weather

Fantastic thanks I appreciate it 😊

Removed the seatbelts to be recoloured in a nice red 😋

Hi, I don’t suppose you came across a how to guide did you for removing the seatbelts in a 986 and how the side panels are removed etc?  Would love to do the same with mine just need to get them uninstalled and sent away.  Thanks

  6. MOT today and pleased to say it passed with a few advisories which was good.  Slight corrosion on a brake pipe and some slight corrosion on the inner rear disc surfaces which I already knew about.  Getting them sorted in a few weeks during its service at my local Independent specialist.

    Yes and no,

I fit it fine but I took it back off, filled it with foam to give it some more rigidity and then fit it with my own bolts and some extra resin to get a better seat for the bolts. Not difficult to do just took some thought and trial at the time.

I was like you thinking of the JT one but even his smaller versions look a little too obvious and big. subtle mods work best on these cars and your work so far mirrors my point perfectly.

would you get it painted to body colour? Think fibreglass ones are cheaper than my carbon one however I went carbon to avoid having to paint it 🤷‍♂️

Thanks Luke I would have it painted. I am thinking now that the Joe Toth one is a bit too big and not as subtle as I would like.  The Zeinwing May fit the bill nicely as more subtle looking 🤔

Aliexpress for mine Simon, you complimented mine. I think it doesn't stand out too much but really gives off a mean booty. Like the Sport Ed!

Thanks yours does look good Luke.  Didn’t you say it took a lot of fiddly modification to get it to fit though?

Both our spoilers are the same, they are fibre glass and available painted or unpainted. I would recommend buying it in primer and getting it properly matched as the colour was off on mine.

I think I originally saw these on eBay but ordered it direct. If you google Cayman style spoiler for 986 you should find them.

It was a few years ago and a few cars ago, so I’m sorry if I’m a bit vague 👍

Thanks will take a look, edit.....can’t find them, any ideas?

I think they look great. Shame nobody seems to make them in the UK. I considered a Joe Toth one some time ago but costs were uncertain and likely high, as mentioned. Ended up with a much less expensive one, don't remember where it came from? Mine involves removing the existing spoiler and fitting it onto the raising mechanism, as opposed to fitting on top of existing spoiler like this one here.

Yes the price and bringing it in from the US is putting me off a bit.  Do you have a photo of the one you went with @el 3.2S

Do you have a link to any @Menoporsche?  That one on yours looks great, isn’t that a 987 sport edition?  Thanks

  11. I came across the Joe Toth Composites 986.2 ducktail spoiler that he now makes and sells and wondered if anyone has tried one or seen one on the flesh?  I got in touch with him via Facebook for some photos and to check the shipping etc and it would work out to about $310 shipped plus whatever duty or VAT gets charged.  It would work out to around £240 then probably another £100 to paint it so it’s not a cheap project but may look excellent.

Any thoughts or has anyone got/ seen one?

Here are a few photos he sent and I think it looks great.

I don’t have air con so so can’t move my temp controls around, do you know if this unit would fit in the bottom two pods?

Hiya no I don’t think it would fit because of the way the bottom console tapers in as it’s wider at the top than at the bottom.  Is you temp control system not just a single din unit like the air con control unit?  I would be surprised if you can’t move it as all 986 models as far as I am aware had the same basic dashboard layout and then different controls added depending on the spec.

Ah, I have Mr @Harri986 to thank for those beauties! They were previously adorning his “special” 986, and it’s no exaggeration to say that the very best of my car is modelled on his. Trust me though it’s a pale imitation of the original, I’m very happy with it.

Mr @Saxosim has painted a similar effect on his ambers with a superb result, of your looking for something similar...

Thanks Loz, these are my ones @Lennym1984 created using an original set of ambers, taillight red tint paint, clear coat and LED bulbs
