Guys, I think you need to find a better reference point for steering wheels than BMW's. Small-diameter thick steering wheels rob the steering of feel and sensitivity, and the steering is one of the really good points of the 987.

"It feels like it came from a BMW" is not a good thing when it comes to discussing steering wheels.

Hi zcacogp, would you care to share your opinion? 😂

    As Mrs Merton might say...

Wow well done for surviving. Winter tyres? If a year round keeper, consider a cheap set of alloys with winter tyres.

Indeed. I had winter tyres on my MR2 roadster & they really made a difference.

I'll have a look on other threads for recommendations on winter tyres (only had the car a month). I'm thinking 17's & skinnier than the 265/235 stagger I have at present.

  3. Found out where my towing eye is & where to fit it. Unfortunately.

Was driving from Glasgow to Oban for work & turned back just short of Dalmally only to get stuck going up the hill. Friendly boys in blue in a X5 arrived before too long & towed me to the top of the hill. Followed a M&S artic who's weight was crushing ths snow from there to Tyndrum. Stopped to regroup then made the hair-raising treck via Crianlarich back to Glasgow. That was scary. No damage to me or to the car, fortunately.

I did check the forecast & both Glasgow & Oban looked fine. Must remember to check Tyndrum & Crianlarich too.

Saying that, I was sat in the Green Wellie looking out at a near white out  in 0deg while BBC weather app was suggesting 2deg & a possibility of some sleet blowing through 😕

  4. Took a potential owner out in mine to let him see what the 987 is like as he's planning a driving holiday & wants to buy one. If anyone is selling a 2.7 @ <£8k he may be interested as he's definitely on the hunt for one now.

& painted the hood in Fabsil Gold. Hopefully it dries before teh dew comes down :s
