  1. Now the system is up and running, I'm really pleased overall. The one remaining niggle I have is that the volume control does not appear to be particularly linear. On a scale of 0 - 30 by the time I'm at 5 it's too loud but 3/4 is too quiet. Has anyone else experienced this?

    Many thanks Ady

    So it’s a cable. Not a replacement amp ?

@Paul P, the amp remains the same, the new cable connects to it and has the addition of an earth wire and it locates directly to the back of the head unit.

    Hi @VladD

Interesting,  I get 2x FM channels and nothing else. Will test the lead when it arrives.  Glad yours is sorted. Enjoy. Cheers Ady

Fitted the lead and the radio is now working fine. Happy days 👍.

Many thanks for the heads up.

    Hi Ady.

I continued with my install and have found that I get FM and DAB reception without the need for the adapter, so I've cancelled my order for the adapter.  The AM signal was poor, but I don't listen to that anyway.

    Hi Ady,

Yes UK car.  With Bose, but no PCM.

Mine has SSP, no Bose or PCM. I'm going to take a flier and order a lead as well. Likewise I will update once fitted.

Thanks for the update, if you can let me know how you get on I would be most appreciative as I'm still without a functioning radio.

@VladD, out of interest is yours s uk car?

    Have a great weekend.

    Cheers Ady

    Hi Ady,

I've had the same problem.  I've found an PCCM+ installation guide for installing in a 986/996 and it has this in it:

"On 986 vehicles with antenna amplifier 987.647.105.00, adapter 986.642.573.00 (not included in scope of delivery) must be used."

I've just ordered the part from Eurospares, so hopefully I'll confirm that is works in the next week or so.

Thanks for the update, if you can let me know how you get on I would be most appreciative as I'm still without a functioning radio.

The aftermarket 2DIN android unit I had in an previous car was far from ideal so in my 987 I opted to upgrade to the PCCM+.

I am very pleased with the result, it works really well and it really upgraded the car now since it has DAB+,Bluetooth, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay and offline navigation.

I like how it looks completely stock, it makes the car look much more modern and use able.

DIY installation was relatively easy even without any installation manual except for the youtube video from FGP. It took me about 3 hours taking it very slowly, figuring out the differences between my 987 with CRD24 and Bose compared to the 997 with PCM and Bose as shown on youtube.

If anybody has any questions let me know.

    Hi Martijn987

Did you have any issues with the aerial amplifier on the A pillar? Mine too has the CDR24 with ASK and the amifiers supplied in the kit are not compatible, the wiring connectors are completely different? With the original one in situ I get 3 DAB stations and nothing on AM or FM.

I've logged it with Porsche and an awaiting a response.

Be interested to hear how you got on.

    Cheers Ady

  9. I'm struggling to find a company to make a plate to the length of the standard plinth 48cm / 19 inches. I find lots of companies offering shorter plates but not the size I need. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

    Hi Si,

My old house was similar size (standard UK garage size at 2.4x4.9m). Like you I thought it felt massive until I actually put a car in it.

I painted mine all white and parked the car up against one side. I found it had plenty of room for my Cayman. I was going to have it all plastered to really finish it off, but I didn't want to lose any of the width, so just painted it instead.

When I changed to the bigger 911, there was still room behind it to store the hard top - and in the picture below some tyres too! I had a small cabinet on the wall and painted a red stripe around the edge, just to break up the colours.

Red cabinet on the wall was from Ikea kitchens, to store my AutoGlym products. I wanted high gloss and no door handles and this fit the bill perfectly. I put a few canvases on the wall of my old cars (canvas in case they dropped off so that they didn't damage the car), and I had a mini petrol pump at the back. :D

Please excuse all the cr*p on the floor! I painted the floor with a grey garage floor point and I thought it looked quite nice overall.

I can't find a picture of the floor finished though. Here is the colour which I had in the old garage (this is a pic of the new garage but to give you an idea):

I had planned to put down Dynotile on the floor, but didn't get around to it. I've since done that in my new garage though and I think they look great!

This was my plan for the new garage:

    This was the end result:

And with the Porsche also in place, realising the dream of the original picture:

The Porsche lettering is made of metal and I found this online somewhere.

    Hope that helps!

Looks fantastic and I love the Porsche lettering. If ever you recall where it came from please do share 🙂

Ady would you be willing to share the template? We’re you able to fit like the American product (not taking bumper off, have no desire, tOols or skills)?
    thanks

    @Stujoed

Mine are similar to the ones that Laney456 has shared the link to the template. Mine was a bumper off job too, not sure how else fit them without.

Not that easy - I've never had any success with entering the car's codes in the CDR.  It might work better if you enter the donor car's security code in the DME, but there is little hope of getting that.  Best bet is to get it de-coded: https://www.dndservices.co.uk/porsche-cdr24.html

I sent mine to DND a couple of years ago and they managed to remove the Protect message and its worked fine ever since 👍

I've just had that same problem and it all points to the cap. I'm collecting a new one tomorrow from the OPC. Fingers crossed 🤞

New cap (04 part number) fitted last night and all is well again, phew! 😁
