I've just had that same problem and it all points to the cap. I'm collecting a new one tomorrow from the OPC. Fingers crossed 🤞

New cap (04 part number) fitted last night and all is well again, phew! 😁

Check the part no on the filler cap. If you have one ending 01 it's worth getting the updated 04. Mine dumped quite a  large amount of coolant and update cap solved the issue. It's a well known problem.

thanks so much for everyone's feedback to my post.

I'll give it a go in the next month or so - for what it costs I believe it's worth doing.

assume the drain plug is same as photo below?

    Pic1.jpg

...unless my head isn't wired up right the fill plug is on the N/S of the car?

    cheers,

    Ian B

Yes its the hex and on the 6 speed box the fill and the drain are the same. Also correct in that the drain plug is on the n/s of the car. For access its the 2x diagonal bars off and then the metal reinforcement plate.

    Enjoy👍

    Cheers Ady

  4. As per Paul P I believe it to be 12 years / 120K miles. I've replaced mine and it seems to be a little smoother but that could just be me wanting it to feel that way after putting the effort in. Would definitely recommend doing it if there is no record of it being replaced. It's very easy to do, just undo the fill bung first to make sure it comes out. Good luck. Ady

I hadn’t heard of C5 before, so just watched their ‘how to apply’ video. Did you use the pre and post product, or just the C5?

Just wondering whether all three are really necessary?

I used pre and top up with the results are awesome 👌

Replaced my window regulator on my 987.2 Cayman.. Went pop (literally) as I pulled into the drive.

Bought a new one from Silverstone Porsche which tells you something as they had one in stock. Interestingly it was £20 plus VAT cheaper than Design 911.

Replacing it was straightforward enough once I had pulled the door trim off. Those self destructing clips are a nightmare to loosen off. (BTW they are identical to VW/Audi ones)

The nightmare part was setting up the glass. I had bolted everything up using the witness marks left by the previous regulator, but took ages to adjust it. You can only do it by trial and error really. Anyway, all good except the vertical gap at the back edge of the glass is about 3mm to big, so I'll have to pull the door trim and adjust, which is simple. I've ordered new trim clips off ebay (£7 for 10) and a proper removal tool which slides inbetween the panel and the clip and releases the clip.

Was surprised the regulator stripped its gears, cars only done 22,000 miles!

Having said that I have done 2 front coffin arms and tuning forks and it's got to go in to have the eccentric bolt replaced that adjusts the rear track.

It's going to have some PS4's fitted next as one of the front Pirellis isn't round as its been parked up for a lot of its latter years, sometimes doing less than 150 miles a year according to the MOT history. I'm also going to change the oil as prior to purchasing it it had an oil change, but the garage must have used ET to unscrew it as its filter housing is uniformley grubby. I'd imagine most owners never even look, making me question if it even had an oil change as its impossible to tell with no dipstick function to look at the oil...

Sounds like a productive a productive session 👍. Would you be able to share details of the trim tool you purchased for the door clips.

    Cheers Ady 🍻

GT3 master cylinder just arrived. TRW box, liberally marked "trwaftermarket.com". Multilingual instructions inside, including telling me that TRW Portugal registered offices are 3 miles from my house...!

I see Andy's point, there really is sod all identification on the casting - and a paper sticker with a barcode and number "7482". Big whoop, let's see how long a paper sticker lasts on a brake MC when installed.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts on any improvements it makes 👍

    No worries.

Not cheap but if you work on your own car it's well worth the investment.

More than welcome to come have a look if you want.

    Ian B

Most appreciated. Once things settle down I might well take you up on your kind offer.

Best wishes for the New Year.

    Here you go chap -

    https://safejacks.com/products/the-rennstand-by-safe-jack-single-unit

I had to import them direct from USA - not cheap but worth it (in my opinion).

If you are going to get a set, make sure you get two 'pucks' that will be specific to your car.

Also the nice bag is cool too - when the jacks are disassembled it helps keep everything neat (and not lost!).

If you've any questions on them just give me a shout.

Many thanks Ian, I will take a look.

    Hi

I had it done locally in Cambridgeshire and I supplied the sprint booster that I bought new from an eBay firm. Whole job took them 5 hours.
This feels like a totally different car. Turn the auto off and use the buttons on the steering wheel and this thing is pure fun. They fitted a different air filter to assist air flow as well. That cost £20.

@Tryinghard64, as others say sounds very interesting. I live in Cambridgeshire, would you mind sharing details if the company you used?

Freshly painted wheels back today, 2 tone light anthracite and silver edge. Pictures don't do them justice, they look faultless!!!

Just need to mend myself and get off these crutches now and fit them ☹️

@detail1, they look awesome 👌.  Looking forward to seeing a picture fitted👍

  12. @Jonttt, Hi an excellent write up on what looks like a great piece of kit for the money. On the off chance do you know if it has the functionality to activate retrofits such as the multi changer and steering wheel controls or would that still require either a Durametric or PWIS?

    Many thanks

    Ady

Yep, love it too, although nearly as painful as black to keep it looking tip top

I can relate to that. Like you I carried out a detail last winter. Being a novice with no means of knowing paint thickness etc I removed the swirls and most of the other defects. Looks epic when the sun shines on it. Bring on the summer👍
